Since 1759, Guinness has been synonymous with a decent pint of the black stuff and a fair helping of Irish drinking joy.

Every St Patrick’s Day, the English, Americans and the rest of the World like to celebrate their undoubted Irish heritage – everyone’s got a bit of Irish blood in them, right? – and down a pint of Arthur’s magic stout.

Leeds-List is no different and will be looking to sup a pint or two on Sunday. But, where are the best places to go and have a swifty or ten? Well, look no further…

Milo Call Lane Leeds (Photography Credit: Joel)

Milo’s is the little gem on Call Lane. Sat next to Wire and opposite the Corn Exchange, it’s a gem of a bar that has some of the best music to throw down to and a decent helping of Guinness to help you lose them inhibitions. The chances are you may hear a bit of Shane MacGowan blaring out on Sunday too.

Distrikt Leeds
No 2 Distrikt

Tucked away on Duncan Street just off Boar Lane lies the vivacious Distrikt bar. It’s a nice little change for a pint of Guinness and it will be even nicer when you consider it’s half price all day Sunday. Taking influence from all over the globe for its cuisine and décor, but particularly from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, Distrikt is a fresh and relaxing alternative for St Patrick’s Day.

O'Neills Leeds (CM)
No 3 O’Neills

Where else would you go on March 17th? It’s the feast of St Patrick and the Irish thoroughbred is the gift that keeps on giving – particularly when it comes to the best Irish ale. Celebrate your day wearing green with traditional Irish music from Blackbush, Craickers and Tone Junkies, traditional Irish dancing and two of the toughest sports in the world – Gaelic Football and Hurling as GAA will be screened live for a taste of the Emerald Isle.

Dry Dock Leeds (Joel)
No 4 Dry Dock

Not only are you on a boat shipwrecked on a leafy peninsula on Woodhouse Lane, but you are also in the midst of some decent craic, proper scream burgers, all the football on the numerous screens and a lovely pint of Guinness.

Brudenell Social Club Leeds (Joel)
No 5 Brudenell Social Club

At one point on New Year’s Eve, I was quite probably stumbling around the Brudenell with three pints of Guinness in my hands wondering how on earth I was supposed to sup them all with 25 minutes to go until midnight and not enough arms. I managed 2 and had the other one for the countdown which was nice. I think. But the moral of this story is that Brudenell Social Club is not only the best venue in town it also has a cracking pint of – this is for you Cockneys – Photo Finish.
