Leeds Digital Festival is a celebration of all things tech. It brings together experts from all over the city to share their knowledge and fuel innovation. It’s a platform for collaboration, a networking dream that brings people together, both virtually and in the real world, to geek out over the latest technologies and techniques. But what’s on this year and what can you expect? We’ve rounded up the highlights to help you narrow down your options.
Learn the Future of Software Development in 14 days: Low Code. Not all tech roles require you to code. In fact, there’s an ever-increasing need for low code solutions and people who can create them. This whistle-stop course will help you to become a low-code certified developer in just 14 days. Takes place online from 11am to 12pm on 19th September 2022.
MedTech Showcase. This half-day extravaganza will create a platform for the city’s MedTech innovators to showcase the work they’re doing and the challenges they face. This real world event will bring together UX experts from LION+MASON, Leeds Building Society and Little Journey to discuss how to overcome the digital challenges businesses are facing today. Takes place at Leeds Building Society from 1pm to 6pm on 26th September 2022.
Yorkshire Data & Digital Conference. Data is one of the fastest growing sectors in the region, so National World has launched a new conference to amplify our success. It will bring together key decision makers, data scientists and influencers, as well as offering specialised workshops. Takes place at Flutter offices from 9am to 5pm on 20th September 2022.
How the Next Generation is Using AI to Power Innovation. Even if you don’t realise it, AI is becoming an increasingly important part of your everyday life. This event will look at how it’s being used to power the next generation of businesses, including what it is, the benefits and the risks it entails. Why Leeds City Region is the Best Location in the UK for Innovation in the Healthcare Sector. This event will reveal how the unique health tech ecosystem in Leeds can help drive innovation. You can hear from healthcare leaders on everything from key market drivers to research and development. Takes place online from 4pm to 5pm on 21st September 2022.
Thinking Creatively to Solve the Tech Skills Shortage. Explore new ways to find the candidates you need. Find out how youth charity Generation is creating opportunities with its data engineering programme and how Infinity Works is aiding career changers with its Academy. Takes place at Infinity Works from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on 21st September 2022.
From Scale-up to Unicorn: Tackling your Barriers to Growth. This event will show you how to turn your vision for your business into a meaningful and longterm strategy, using a data-led approach to assess performance and identify potential barriers. Innovations in Immersive Healthcare: Show and Tell. This is your chance to find out how the University of Leeds is using XR technologies to transform healthcare and get hands-on with new technologies that support millimetre-precise brain tumour surgery. Takes place at Seminar Room G.07 at the University of Leeds from 12pm to 5pm on 23rd September 2022.
Introduction to Programming. In this hour-long session, Northcoders’ Junior Software Engineer & Mentors, Hev and Verity, will use CodePen to build some simple code and they’ll take you along for the ride. This is a great taster session for anyone who’s interested in becoming a developer. Takes place online from 8pm to 9pm on 23rd September 2022.
KPMG: KidsCode. Got little programmers at home? Take them to this interactive coding session. They’ll have a go with Python, programme a self-driving car and learn about the endless possibilities of a career in tech, all in one fun morning session. This is education made interesting. Takes place at KPMG 1 Sovereign Square from 11am to 12:30pm on 24th September 2022.
Speed Mentoring with Tech Leaders. Collaboration is a huge part of Leeds Digital Festival and that’s what this event is all about. It will bring together tech experts to crowdsource answers to common challenges, covering everything from talent sourcing to scaling up. Takes place at 4 The Boulevard from 6pm to 7:30pm on 26th September 2022.

CGI Presents the Cyber Escape Experience. This is an escape game with a difference. Sure, you’ll have 60 minutes to solve clues and puzzles to escape the room, but you’ll also have to complete cyber security tasks along the way. Takes place in a shipping container between the Henry Moore Institute and the Radisson from 9:30am to 5:30pm on 27th September 2022.
Shoot Videos on Your Phone like a Pro. Whether you want to be an influencer or just need to up your social media game, this event is a must. In this one-hour session, you’ll learn how to shoot top quality, engaging content as Paul and Matt from Manto Films share their secrets. Takes place online from 11am to 12pm on 28th September 2022.
FinTech North – International FinTech Showcase. This unique event will bring together FinTechs from around the world to pitch their propositions and build long-lasting connections with their fellow innovators. Expect lively discussions and networking in the FinTech community. Takes place at 6 Wellington Place from 9:30am to 12pm on 29th September 2022.
Leeds Digital Festival Run 2022. Work-life balance is important, so this wellness-centric event will invite you to put down your laptop and instead pound the pavements. It’s an inclusive 6-kilometre run that will go at your pace, passing the city’s biggest tech landmarks as you go. Takes place at Sovereign Square from 8am to 8:45am on 30th September 2022.
