This Christmas, we’re going to send you on a merry chase. Not in search of presents but on a mission to find Santa himself. He’s hiding in the most unlikely places – inside shops, up on balconies and under the stairs – and every time you find him, you’ll also find a clue to his next hiding spot. This, festive friends, is Search for Santa, an epic treasure hunt that takes over Leeds city centre from Friday 2nd to Friday 23rd December 2022.

Unravel the clues to find the ultimate secret Santa

The first thing you need to know about Search for Santa is that it’s totally free, but that’s not even the best bit because there’s a holly jolly £1,000 shopping spree up for grabs. No lists of naughty and nice, no checking it twice – to get your mitten-clad hands on this unbelievable prize, you’ll have to find, scan and log all 10 Santas. Do that and your name will go into the big man’s oh-so-distinctive hat for a chance to win the ultimate secret Santa.

The grand prize is split into two parts. There’s a £500 Trinity Leeds gift card, so you can scour the racks at Urban Outfitters, splash out on the latest tech at the Apple Store or treat the kids at The Entertainer. And if that’s not enough, you’ll also have a £500 gift card to use at John Lewis. This is designer heaven – Barbour, Radley and Ted Baker all vie for your attention, alongside the likes of Bose, Nkuku and Le Creuset. Happy shopping!

Search the city, solve the puzzles and find Santa

So, how does it work? There are 10 Santas hidden across the city. To find the first one, you’ll need a clue – and you can get that by signing up below. Once you’ve puzzled it out, simply set off in search of Santa. When you find him, you’ll also find your next clue, along with a QR code that will let you log it. You’ll need to log all 10 Santas to be in with a chance of winning that £1,000 shopping spree, but that’s not the only prize on offer. Oh by golly, no!

You see, every Santa has his own mini draw, so every time you log one, you’ll get a chance to win a £100 Trinity Leeds gift card or a £100 John Lewis gift card. The result? You don’t have to hunt down every Santa to bag a prize – if you run out of time or get flummoxed by a clue, you’ll still be in with a chance of winning. Now you’ve got ten times as many reasons to get your festive cheer on and go out on the hunt, so what are you waiting for?

The Leeds Search for Santa treasure hunt runs from Friday 2nd to Friday 23rd December 2022. The free prize draws are open until noon on Friday 23rd December 2022 – you must log your Santas before this date to gain entry to the prize draws. There is one grand prize draw. The prize is a £500 Trinity Leeds gift card and a £500 John Lewis gift card. To enter the grand prize draw, you must log all 10 Santas using the QR code provided. In order to log your Santa, you must complete the form on page. Entrants must leave at least 5 minutes between logging each Santa. One winner will be randomly selected from the database of entrants who logged all 10 Santas. There are also 10 mini prize draws, one for each Santa. Each mini draw has 2 prizes available and each prize will go to a different winner. There will be 1x £100 Trinity Leeds gift card and 1x £100 John Lewis gift card. Winners will not be able to choose which voucher they get. Each time you log a Santa using the QR code, you’ll be automatically entered into the mini draw. Two winners will be randomly selected from the database of entrants who logged each Santa by completing the prize draw entry form. This free prize draw is open to UK residents with a valid UK postal address only. Employees and family of LeedsBID, Leeds Digital Magazines or any agencies connected with the set up of this prize draw are not eligible to enter. No cash alternative. The winner will be contacted by email on Friday 23rd December 2022. The winner must confirm that they’re eligible and able to accept by the end of January 2023. If a winner does not contact us within this time period, we reserve the right to choose another winner at random from all other eligible entries. The Leeds-List office will be closed from Saturday 24th December 2022 to Tuesday 3rd January 2023 – no prizes can be collected or dispatched during this time. Subject to availability.
