London is the gin capital of the world, but where should you go to get the best G&T? Introducing The Distillery, a four-floor mecca for gin-loving explorers. Travel to London first class on the new Azuma trains
They’ve finally arrived! Azuma is the biggest revolution of the East Coast mainline service in more than 30 years and you can check it out for yourself because we’re giving away First Class travel to London. Inspired by bullet train technology and kitted out with all the mod cons, you can sit back in your reclining seats as you surf on the web using the free wifi and charge your devices from your personal plug socket.
Drink gin & dream of gin at The Distillery
If you’re our lucky winner, you’ll bag a one night stay for two people at The Distillery. These quirky double rooms come with super-soft beds, incredible views of Portobello Road and a Rough Trade-curated vinyl collection ready to play on their record players. But this isn’t just an overnighter – you have lots to look forward to.
First off, you’ll join the Ginstitute for their critically acclaimed gin-blending experience. Amongst their copper stills, you’ll whizz through the history of gin, from its creation by the Dutch to the golden era, before you nose your way through their eclectic range of botanicals to make your own bespoke gin. You’ll be plied with gin cocktails while you work and take home your personal blend at the end of the day.
Afterwards, you can head up to GinTonica to indulge in a scrumptious, stomach-lining meal for two worth up to £110. Basque tapas is the order of the day, so prepare to feast on calamare, croquettes and chorizo with cider and caramelised onions.
Feast on a proper Sunday roast
It’s the morning after the night before, there’s only one thing for it – you need a proper roast dinner in your belly and we’ve got just the thing. Roast is the ultimate Sunday lunch destination with a menu that will make your mouth water – and you can indulge in 3 courses from their market menu with a glass of prosecco. Slow roasted lamb shoulder studded with rosemary and garlic… free-range chicken with sage and onion stuffing… roast sirloin of Hereford beef with a Yorkshire pud… pork belly with Bramley apple sauce… the biggest challenge here is choosing what to order. Perhaps a return visit is in order.
