How Stean Gorge is one of Yorkshire’s most popular attractions, with loads of activities on offer – and the best has to be caving. Explore the hidden depths of Nidderdale on a half-day adventure that will see you exploring caverns, wading through underground rivers and climbing underground waterfalls. It’s open to everyone, whether you’re doing it for the first time or are an experienced potholer, and all you need is a pair of wellies, everything else is provided.

Tandem Paragliding across God’s Own Country

What better way to see the Yorkshire Dales than from a glider, hundreds of feet above the ground? Active Edge are the people you want to speak to, because they offer tandem paragliding flights over God’s Own Country. Head to Settle, where you’ll have a short briefing, before being attached to a fully qualified pilot who’ll take care of the launch, flight and landing on a 20 to 30 minutes ride. You’ll be able to just enjoy the stunning view below and take pictures – if the weather permits, you might even get a chance to take control of the glider.

Lost Earth Adventures are specialists in gorge walking and one of their most popular destinations is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. On the three hour walk, you’ll wade through the water as you follow the stream down the ancient limestone channels of the Mill Gill Force, carved out over millions of years. Lost Earth will provide everything you need, just wear sensible clothing, because you’ll be jumping into deep pools, climbing up waterfalls and scrambling over boulders as you discover a side of the Dales that you wouldn’t usually see.
