If you take on the challenge, you’ll find yourself 16-metres off the ground, scrambling through the forest and taking on tricky obstacles. Expect high wires, zip lines, Jacob’s ladders and more. These courses are great fun for kids and adults alike, but the question is, are you brave enough?

Have you got the courage to take on the Tree Top Challenge at Go Ape? As you run, jump and leap through the trees you’ll be faced with narrow platforms suspended 15 metres in the air, a 60 metre zip line and an 11 metre free-fall. It’s £28 per person to tackle the 2-3 hour course and you need to be at least 1.4 metres tall. If you have little ones, try the Tree Top Adventure instead. Complete with zip wires and wobbly bridges, this course is just as exhilarating and specifically tailored to younger thrill-seekers.

A gigantic adventure playground in the sky, Treetop Nets at Lightwater Valley Park boasts 2,000 square metres of bouncy nets, treehouses, tunnels and slides 16 metres above the ground. You’ll get two hours to explore the whole area – so you can bounce on their super springy nets or head to the ball zone for a supersized game of dodgeball. It’s perfect for children aged 3 and over and the price ranges from £13-£20 depending on age. Treetop Nets is entirely enclosed, which means maximum safety with no uncomfortable harnesses.

High Ropes Course

For the ultimate tree top adventure in Yorkshire, head to Camp Hill Estate. You’ll reach heights of 14 metres as you clamber up cargo nets and bound across tyre bridges. There are 23 suspended obstacles for you to face, so be prepared for an action-packed hour and a half as their skilled instructors help you navigate through the trees. Kids over the age of 6 can take on the challenge, so if you’ve got a family of adrenaline junkies, why not make it your next adventure? It costs £20 for the young ones and £25 for adults.

At Raven Tree Top Adventure, you’ll be eased into the challenge with a smaller training course designed to build your confidence – expect suspended logs and wire walks. For the main event, you’ll be six metres up, tiptoeing across narrow high wires and gliding down zip wires. The course takes 45-90 minutes and it’s aimed at adults and teenagers, but courageous kids aged 7+ are welcome. It makes for a thrilling day out and it’s great value too at £15 per person.

Wired High Ropes Challenge

If you dare take on the Wired High Ropes Challenge, you’ll find yourself 8 metres up in the trees and faced with 22 tricky obstacles. Suitable for everyone aged 7+, you can scale webbed netting, leap from platform to platform and take a hair-raising trip down the zip wire. It’s only £12.50 for an adventure pass – that gives you a trip round the high ropes as well as access to the indoor play area and outdoor adventure park, so it’s fantastic value-for-money for families.

Get a bird’s eye view of the Yorkshire woodland on the tree top adventure trail in Ripley Castle’s beautiful grounds. Expect to climb, jump and swing through the canopy as you take on everything from a wobbly Jacob’s ladder to a terrifying 11-metre leap of faith. This course will take one hour for groups of two to four and longer for larger groups. It costs £30 for adults and £25 for children – kids have to be over the age of 8.
