It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with festive pop-ups all around!

Magical light installations, fairytale grottos and immersive art, LeedsBID has gone all out for Christmas. But they’ve got one more trick up their sleeves – a packed calendar of festive music performances that will pop-up all over the city centre this December. From Yuletide carols being sung by a choir to dancing and prancing in City Square, the festive fun is only just beginning!

As we tip-toe closer to Christmas, you’ll have even more festive music to look forward to. Friday brings a duo of performances from Leeds-based singer Katie Heap. She’ll be playing a stripped-back set of Christmas covers at Bond Court from 12pm and outside the Briggate Tipi from 4pm.

On Saturday, you’ll have the perfect excuse to visit Holy Trinity Church and see it all lit up because a brass ensemble will be setting up shop outside. Listen to Yuletide classics as you gaze up at the fairy lights cascading down this Grade I-listed building. Afterwards, take a stroll to Lands Lane, stopping at Trinity’s Après Ski Bar as you go, to catch Katie performing her third set of the weekend.

There’s one more appearance you need to know about. LUUMS Chamber Choir will be popping up at two locations on Sunday. They’ll run through all the carols you know and love from 12pm on City Square and 4pm on Lands Lane, so be sure to stop by.

On the last weekend before Christmas, you’ll have a packed calendar of music to look forward to. It starts at 12pm on Friday as singer-songwriter Tom Besley brings a little festive magic to Bond Court. And if you’re commuting home that night, you’ll be greeted by the Bon Tempi Quartet in Leeds Train Station, opposite Wetherspoons.

Saturday brings even more fun. Shades Collective, an epic ensemble best known for their garage, jungle and house covers, will set your toes to tapping as you weave your way between shops, picking up last minute gifts. They’re doing an early set on Lands Lane at 9am, with a second show to follow in City Square, as you head home with all your shopping at 4pm. And in between? Our favourite brass ensemble will pop-up on Briggate at 12pm.

To close out the weekend and send off you off into Christmas week, pop five-piece Little Planets will bring you two unmissable shows. They’re taking over Dortmund Square at 12pm on Sunday, before racing over to Lands Lane for a post-shop performance.

If the heavens open, acts will be moving indoors, so keep an eye on the Welcome to Leeds Twitter feed for updates.
