Ice Cube is back in Millennium Square with 2018, with a few exciting changes in store.

It’s not just cold weather coming to Leeds over the next few weeks – our favourite ice rink returns to Millennium Square for a month of fun.

Every year, Millennium Square is taken over by a host of winter activities, from ice skating to ice slides – and 2018 will be no different. So wrap up warm, dig out your skates and make the most of Ice Cube’s return to Leeds from Friday 2nd to Sunday 25th February 2018.

The indoor ice rink is back, which means whatever the weather, you can always have a fantastic day out. Made of real ice, it has plenty of space to test your skills. It’s open to adults and kids alike – you can even get lessons if you’re just starting out, with four week courses available for individuals and groups from Skate UK.

This year, everyone will be on the same rink, but the little ones can find their feet with their special penguin skating aids – and of course, mum and dad can help them along. They also have safety helmets to hire for £1, giving you a little extra peace of mind. If you want a completely family friendly experience, go on Sunday mornings for The Penguin Club, which is solely for adults and children under 8.

Up for it? Here’s what you need to know…

A 45 minute session will set you back £8 for adults or £6.50 for kids aged 12 and under, although you can bag a family pass for £26.00, which includes two adults and two kids or one adult and three kids. If you’ve got little ones, you can get a parent and toddler ticket for £10, which applies to kids up to 5 years old.

Ice Cube is open Monday to Friday from midday to 8pm, with sessions running every hour. There are even more opportunities to hit the ice on the weekend and during the school holidays as it opens from 10am, then closes at 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 7pm on Sundays.

Even more wintery fun

There’s more to Ice Cube than just skating. You can check out a host of rides, with the famed North Pole Starflyer taking you 30 metres into the air for a 360 degree spin, or you can try out a trio of new icy attractions – the Ice Jet, the Ice Palace and the Ice Slide. There’s also a chance to jump on the Glacier Run Experience Simulator, which will take you on a glacier adventure that feels real.

If you get hungry at Ice Cube, there’s a brand new cafe for 2018. Catering Yorkshire are opening up the Igloo Cafe, which will offer a range of hot drinks and food to warm your cockles, as well as sweet treats.

Ice Cube will be at Millennium Square from Friday 2nd February to Sunday 25th February 2018.
