This April, #LeedsDigi22 will open your eyes to the challenges, opportunities and ultimate importance of sustainability in the tech sector…
The main event may be a way off yet, but Leeds Digital Festival returns this April with a three-day sprint. It will bring us the same standard of innovative, thought-provoking events, but this time, they’re centred around a subject that’s close to all our hearts – sustainability. This is your chance to hear from inspirational speakers, network with industry experts and explore the possibilities of green technology.
Day 1 – 25th April 2022
The #LeedsDigi22 mini-fest kicks off with three unmissable events that you can fit around your day – think lunchtime live-streams and afterwork drinks. The Data City is first up with the hard truths of the road to net zero at 12pm. It’s a bold ambition, but the lack of data means policy makers are working blind. Alex Craven will talk you through some of the key data challenges and their potential solutions in this two-hour session.
At 1pm, Will Saunders, founder and creative director of Good Will Studios, will tell you how to cut through the noise and tell your story. His 4-step brand-building framework is designed to help sustainable tech businesses find their edge, make an impact and scale up. Then, in a fun twist, 6pm brings in-person drinks with BIMA Yorkshire. This is your chance to meet and mingle at SALT Leeds, building your network as you go.
Day 2 – 26th April 2022
Assuming you didn’t have one too many drinks with the digital movers and shakers last night, you’ll have a quintet of events to look forward to on day two. At 12pm, you can tune into part one of Northernlands 4, as they bring together organisations from the North of England and the Netherlands to share their knowledge. An hour later, techUK will kick off an in-person panel discussion on how SMEs are driving environmental and social change.
At 2pm, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership will introduce you to the tech innovators who’ve moved into the region, then at 4pm, Appleyard Lees will brief you on the technologies tackling climate change. And if you’re wondering why sustainability is relevant to the tech industry, the 5:30pm sit down with Infinity Works is just the ticket. They’ll explain why the two go hand-in-hand and how technology can drive sustainability initiatives.
Day 3 – 27th April 2022
The final day of #LeedsDigi22 mini-fest promises five thought-provoking events, most of which are remote for easy access. The fun starts at 10am with a session on fact and fiction. Crisp will explore climate misinformation and look at how we can use our digital chatter to predict risks to our environment. That’s quickly followed by part two of Northernlands 4 at 12pm, which this time will focus on startups like Synap, Crysp and Antonym.
Alternatively, you can join Walker Morris as they question whether Blockchain is sustainable. You’ll hear from start-ups who’ve used it as a power for good and industry leaders like Anthony Day, Blockchain Partner at IBM. 2pm brings together academic leaders, industry pioneers and public sector speakers to champion inter-industry collaboration, then 4pm offers an in-person sit-down on the sustainability benefits of digital transformation.
The #LeedsDigi22 mini-fest takes place virtually and in-person in venues across Leeds from Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th April 2022.
