It’s bigger and better than you could ever imagine! They’ve placed five life-sized dinosaurs around the city and they’re incredibly real. You’ll see them come to life before your eyes as they move and roar – expect swishing tails, blinking eyes and waggling arms. It’s about as close as you can get to seeing a real dinosaur without a time machine or a mad scientist with a pre-historic mosquito.

Trinity Leeds will have not one, but two dinosaurs. The first can be found on the main concourse and it’s impossible to miss. Their T-Rex is 18 metres long, making it the biggest predator on the trail, and you can get close enough to see those razor-sharp teeth up close. Afterwards, you can take the kids for a ride on a dinosaur or stop by their dino shop to pick up a souvenir from your adventures.

And then it’s off to Trinity Kitchen where the second of their carnivorous dinosaurs awaits. Here you’ll find the deadliest dinos of them all – the velociraptors. They may be caged, but expect jumps aplenty as these vicious little beasts try to escape. This is by far the scariest of them all, so unsuspecting shoppers are in for a fright. If you’re bringing little ones, watch from afar before you go close, so they know what to expect.

The Merrion Centre is next and they’ve got a famous herbivore to entertain you. This 7-metre triceratops is a gentle giant – it has one of the biggest skulls of any large animal that has ever lived, so it’s a sight to behold. While you’re here, stop by Tenpin for a game of bowling and a burger for just £5 – this is a summer exclusive, so make the most of it while you can.

Over in Victoria Leeds, you can see an apatosaurus, which is similar to the diplodocus and brontosaurus you’re probably more familiar with. You can watch his sweeping tail and flexible neck in action as this 11-metre dino goes about his business. But that’s not the only thing that will keep the kids entertained here. For just £5, you can check out their Virtual Reality pods and take a virtual journey through the Jurassic world.

The last stop on this magical mystery tour into the prehistoric world is Leeds Kirkgate Market. In amidst the veggies and the street food vendors, you’ll find an 8-metre long carnotaurus – this little beastie was a predator born and bred, but what we love the most about it is the fact that his arms are even shorter than a T-Rex – who knew? Once you’ve seen it with your own eyes, you can take the kids to do a host of dino-themed activities – get crafty, make salt-dough fossils or go on a wild fact-finding mission, the choice is yours.

They may not have their own dinosaurs, but Leeds Corn Exchange and St Johns Centre have lined up a packed calendar of events to keep the kids entertained. Think workshops, interactive play and crafts, with a little something for everyone. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of their roaming dinosaur. A super-realistic walking dino on a mission to make your selfie dreams come true, it’s sure to get tongues wagging.

This really only scratches the surface of what Leeds Jurassic Trail has to offer. There are more events to be announced and more deals to be had, so you can make the summer holidays one to remember. Oh, and if you visit all five dinosaurs, be sure to collect the code on the side because once you have them all, you can enter their competition to win an incredible family day out.

Leeds Jurassic Trail will take over the city from Saturday 27th July to Sunday 1st September 2019.
