Sit down to an Eastern feast as you watch an incredible pop-up opera…
Opera North has escaped the theatre for a night of music, dancing and hilarious antics in the city’s favourite brewery. They’re taking over The Chapter Hall at Northern Monk’s Holbeck brewery on Monday 15th October 2018 – and you can join them. Not only will you see a whirlwind performance with hits from Puccini, Lehár and Mozart, but you’ll also be treated to a delicious feast from MorMor and a pint of Northern Monk’s finest – all for just £17.50.
Watch the opera unfold around you
Cast aside your preconceptions, this is opera as you’ve never seen it before. The stage is a bar and the performers are among you, so you’ll be closer to the action than ever before. It’s funny, tragic and entertaining, all in one – and you’ll whizz through the story in just 30 minutes. So sit back, relax and watch as our two sweethearts go through the ecstasies and tragedies of love in record time.
“It’s a lighthearted take on the opera, it’ll take you on a journey through all the emotions you’d expect to feel when going to the opera,” Director John Savournin told us. “And it has a real immediacy, the singers will be standing one foot away from you, singing a really gut-wrenching aria or dancing past you to The Merry Widow Waltz.”

MorMor will be serving two scrumptious flatbreads on the night – the grilled chicken shawarma comes loaded with garlic hummus and fattoush salad, while the super seed and dukkah falafel comes with muhammara, shredded beet and carrot salad. They’re both topped up with pickled cabbage and pepper, dukkah, lemon & garlic tahini yoghurt, crispy shallots and pomegranate molasses, so expect a real pop of flavour. And if you want to go gluten-free, you can get it as a salad instead. Whatever you choose, wash it down with a pint of Northern Monk’s Eternal session IPA, a glass of house wine or a soft drink, all for just £17.50.
