Have you ever been to the opera? Now’s the perfect time to do it because Opera North are bringing their latest pop-up to Belgrave Music Hall on Wednesday 26th September 2018. In amidst the exposed brickwork and the cool comfy sofas, they’re going to take you on a whistle-stop tour through the lives of one loved-up couple. As they weave between the tables, you’ll be thrust into the magical world of the opera – expect roof-raising arias and romantic duets, sung metres away from where you stand.

This is opera as you’ve never seen it before. Performed by three singers and an accordion player, with a mish-mash of music from The Merry Widow, Tosca and The Magic Flute, it’s a little bit crazy and a whole lot of fun. “If you want to experience something you’ve never experienced before, if you want to get something out of it, even if you’re a seasoned opera-goer, it’s 30 minutes of entertaining, funny, tragic and dangerous music-making, with some food and a pint,” Director John Savournin told us.

Your £10 ticket doesn’t just get you into the show, it also includes half a pizza and a pint of craft beer. From the Sausage Fest, which comes smothered in prosciutto, spianata and black pepper sausage, to the Silvio, with its simple combo of tomato, mozzarella, basil and smoked sea salt, Dough Boys will be making all your favourites – and because it’s served in slices, you can try more than one. Wash it down with one of their famous craft beers, or if you’d prefer, go for one of their house wines or soft drinks.

Okay, here’s how it’s going to go down. Doors open at 6pm on Wednesday 26th September 2018 – you’ll have time to find a seat, grab a pint and start noshing down on pizza before the show begin. Let us know if you’re a veggie and we’ll make sure there are enough meat-free pizzas to go round.
