It’s pumpkins galore at Horsforth Pick Your Own! They were planted earlier in the year, and now it’s time for you to harvest them. You can spend a good couple of hours exploring the patch at the heart of this Leeds working farm, and you’ll need every minute because there are loads of different varieties to choose from. We’re talking miniature ones, striped ones and even warty ones. Tickets cost £2.50 on-peak and £1.50 off-peak, which you’ll get back as a voucher to spend on your pumpkin, with prices ranging from £1.50 to £8.50.

Brookleigh Pumpkins

Brookleigh Pumpkins are based in Menston just north of Leeds. After a wildly successful pumpkin picking season last year, they’ve planted double the crop this time round, so there’s plenty of gourds for everyone. It’s got a real country fete vibe and is family-friendly through and through, making it the perfect patch if you’ve got little ones in tow. While you’re here, you can grab refreshments from the cafe – because what’s better than a hot chocolate on a cool autumn day? It’s free to enter, with pumpkin prices starting at £5.

Pumpkin Picking at Stockeld Park

Stockeld Park is one of the city’s best family attractions. Every Halloween, you can visit their Enchanted Forest, explore the Magical Maze and pick your own pumpkin. Their patch stretches as far as the eye can see and it’s filled with thousands of pumpkins. So, round up the kids and roam around the meadow until you find the most ghoulish-looking one. Entry starts at £16, but this includes access to all of Stockeld Park’s attractions, as well as a free pumpkin for every child. And if you want extras, they’re just £2.50.

Halloween Pumpkin Patch at Swithens Farm

Every year, Swithens Farm is taken over by ghosts and ghouls. You can take a spooky tractor ride, explore the haunted woods and meet their resident witch as they welcome you to their annual Pumpkin Festival. Tickets are £15 and include a pumpkin, so get your wellies on and prepare to pick the perfect winter squash. Want to get to carving then and there? No problem, they’ll take care of the mess. Got time for a terrifying tractor ride? Yes, you do! Quick trip to the play barn? Expect tuckered youngsters on the way home.

Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival
Farmer Copleys is home to one of the biggest and best pumpkin festivals in Yorkshire. With over 130,000 pumpkins spread across 20 acres of fields, you can spend hours on the hunt for your perfect pumpkin. They’ve planted 30 different varieties and they come in every shape, size and colour – red, blue or black, stripy or spotty – they’ve got them all. Watch out for the wicked witch who’ll be up to some Halloween mischief around the farm. Tickets cost £5 on-peak and £3 off-peak, with pumpkin prices ranging from £1.50 to £12.

Bert’s Barrow Pumpkin Picking

Bert’s Barrow is a family-run farm in Hillam, just 30 minutes outside of Leeds, and the perfect spot to go pumpkin picking. The patch is free to enter, you simply pay for what you pick, with over 30,000 pumpkins and prices starting from £1. They also have an activity barn, where for just £3.50 per child, you can carve or paint your pumpkin. They’ve got everything you need to create your perfect jack o’ lantern, as well as food, drink and a Halloween trail, so you can make a day of it and really get into the Halloween spirit.

The Pumpkin Festival at Birchfield Farm

A 6-acre field of pumpkins awaits you at Birchfield Farm’s Pumpkin Festival, so pull on your wellies, grab a wheelbarrow and get picking! The annual autumn event is always a hit and it’s easy to see why – from a maize maze to bouncy castles, go karts and sandpits, it’s all going on here. Pumpkins cost between £1 and £12, depending on their size and the pumpkin carving barn offers endless hours of fun – you can even feed your leftovers to the pigs. Tickets are £5.95 and include all the activities and entry to the woodland walk.

Pumpkin Picking at Cannon Hall Farm

Cannon Hall Farm is one of the best places to go pumpkin picking with the kids in Yorkshire. They’ve got mini wheelbarrows so the little ones can whizz around the field with their freshly picked pumpkins. Tickets are £13.95 plus a small booking fee, but that includes an entire day of Halloween fun, as well as a pumpkin for every child. Soft play, themed activities and pumpkin decorating are combined with all the cuteness of the petting zoo. Need to load up on pumpkins for a spooktastic Halloween? They’re £3 each.

Pumpkin Season at The Balloon Tree York

You can get the pick of the patch at The Balloon Tree York. They take pride in producing high-quality, home-grown seasonal veggies year-round and their pumpkins are no exception. There are hundreds for you to choose from, in all shapes and sizes. Go for a little one if you’re cooking or a large one if you’re carving a monstrous jack o’ lantern. And if all that harvesting tires you out, you can re-fuel with light refreshments at the Berry Barn. There’s no entry fee, just take your pumpkins to the shop to pay.

Spooks & Pumpkin Picking at Thornton Hall Country Park
Thornton Hall Country Park goes all out for their pumpkin-picking event. There’s a witchy show live on the stage, broomstick racing and a spooky skeleton scavenge. Plus, you can visit the animals and even feed them, with llamas, donkeys, piglets and ponies all waiting to wow the kids. Tickets are £14.95 for kids, £9.95 for adults, £9.95 for kids under 2s and free for babies under 1, with pumpkins costing extra. Come in fancy dress for a chance to win some epic prizes. PYO at Eastfield Farm

Eastfield is usually a soft fruits farm, but every October their fields are full of pumpkins, primed and ready for you to pick. Entry to the South Yorkshire farm is free, so all you need to do is wrap up warm, put on your wellies and bring along some secateurs to harvest your favourite. A top tip from the farmers – the further you walk, the better the pumpkins. And why not take on the challenge of finding the biggest on the patch? You pay per pumpkin with prices ranging from £1 to £7, all you have to do is pick, weigh and pay.

Autumn Pumpkin Festival at Piglets Adventure Farm

Bring the whole brood to Piglets Adventure Farm for a pumpkin picking experience all the family will love. The kids get a pumpkin included with the £13.95 ticket (adult tickets are £11.95, but there’s no pumpkin for you). Once the little ones have made their pick, you can head to the carving tent to scoop out the flesh and turn it into a seriously spooky jack o’ lantern. But make sure you leave time for the Mysterious Maize maze and The Magic Hatter Show. Plus, best fancy dress wins a prize, so get out your best costume.

Spilmans PYO Pumpkins

For a day of pumpkin picking and family fun, head to Spilmans. This Yorkshire farm has a 10-acre patch with over 125,000 ripe beauties ready for you to inspect, including white ones, as well as gourds and squashes. Just grab a wheelbarrow, choose your favourite, then carve it in the barn. There’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained too, with spooky musical shows, tractor rides, pumpkin slingshots and a huge hay bale mountain. Tickets are £5 per person, but can be converted into credit to spend at the farm when you arrive.
