Since it opened in 2013, The Tetley has become one of the city’s most prized cultural institutions, and their latest exhibition will show you why.
There’s so much more to The Tetley than its history. The former Tetley’s Brewery HQ has been transformed into a multi-faceted space that brings together art, beer and scrumptious food, all under one roof. Downstairs, their bar and restaurant serves a medley of tasty morsels, with everything from proper Sunday roasts to brisket burgers and little fish and chips (for the kids, of course), but upstairs, they’ve transformed the offices into quirky exhibition spaces where you can see up and coming artists showcase their work – like Simeon Barclay.

Barclay’s Bus2move comes to The Tetley from Saturday 27th October 2018 to Sunday 3rd February 2019. He’s a rising star of the art scene and a local boy done good, so this is a homecoming of sorts. Bus2move is his first institutional solo exhibition in the North of England and it was borne out of his research into the Phoenix Dance Theatre’s archives. It explores the many faces of dance, from clubland to theatre, and presents it in an immersive exhibition that combines industrial light boxes, neons, video, costumes and music.
Within the eclectic rooms of the old offices, you’ll discover a modern exhibition that changes from space to space. You’ll pass neon lights in dimly lit rooms, see the glory of dance in motion and look past the VIP cordons to a world beyond. And if you’re our lucky winner, you can see it all through the eyes of the artist himself, because you’ll bag a private tour for 4 people.
But that’s not all. You’ll also get a festive afternoon tea for 4 people with a bottle of fizz to share. You can tuck into a medley of Christmas-inspired sarnies, like turkey and stuffing, before moving onto the sweets, which include a spiced buttermilk scone with clotted cream and jam. There’s an exclusive beer tasting for 4 to look forward to as well – you can try five different beers and ales, including Tetley’s No.3 Pale Ale and Original Cask.
