This July, Opera North will launch the Summer Series at Millennium Square with a packed weekend of music – and we’re giving away tickets.
Opera North in the City is set to be one of the biggest events of the summer. They’re bringing together a trio of events so different from one another that you won’t believe they’ve been made by the same people. From live orchestra clubnights to opera favourites and a film classic brought to life with a full symphony orchestra – this is your chance to discover the incredible possibilities of Opera North.
Round up your mates with tickets to all three events
Want in? We’re giving away four tickets to each event, so you’re in for a whole weekend of fun. Start on Friday 28th July 2017 with a very special collaboration – Opera North have joined forces with one of the city’s most famous clubnights for The Symphonic Sounds of Back to Basics. It’s going to be a night of dance floor anthems, but reworked and played live by the Orchestra of Opera North.
The next night, you’re in for a more traditional night of entertainment, as two brilliantly talented soloists come together for A Night at the Opera. Quirijn de Lang and Jeni Bern will be taking the lead, regaling you with opera classics from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Mozart’s Don Giovanni, as well as musical greats from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel and Cole Porter’s Kiss Me, Kate. From unforgettable arias to show-stopping tunes, you might be surprised by how many of them you recognise.
Finally, on Sunday 30th July 2017, you’ll have a chance to see one of the most iconic movies of the 80s on the big screen, as they offer up a unique screening of Back to the Future. Not only will you see Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel back in time to save the future, but you’ll also experience Alan Silvestri’s incredible score at its very best, because the Orchestra of Opera North will be playing it live.
Make a night of it with a £100 bar tab at Be At One
To help you kick start your weekend, we’re also giving you a chance to WIN a £100 bar tab for Be At One. It’s right on the edge of Millennium Square, so you’ll be a minute away from the show. And of course, you’ll be able to delve into their ginormous menu of cocktails, including new creations like the Coco Italiano (Olmeca Altos Reposado, Campari, Martini Rosso and Coconut Syrup) or the Pan Am (Bacardi Blanc, Orgeat, Lemon Juice, Aperol and Egg White).
