An urgent political thriller, a scrumptious Italian dinner – get your entries in because we’re giving away an incredible night out.
This autumn, Opera North will welcome you into a world where good and evil live side by side. While one man is willing to sacrifice himself to save his friend, another will do anything to get what he wants – and the woman caught in the crossfire will lose everything in the process. Tosca is an urgent, heart-pounding thriller and it has to be seen (and heard) to be believed, so we’re giving away 4 tickets with dinner at Gino D’Acampo’s My Restaurant before the show.
You’ve never seen Tosca like this before
Round up, round up, because we’re giving away 4 tickets to Opera North’s latest show. Director Edward Dick has given Puccini’s work new life with a modern reimagining of Tosca. It’s a contemporary political thriller that combines sexual politics, religious oppression and cold-blooded murder, so expect a wickedly tense night of entertainment. Set in a world of laptops and Armani suits, you’ll be amazed at how they’ve adapted a 19th-century opera to work in the modern day.
And then there’s the music – it’s a belting score, filled with powerful, emotional numbers that sweep you up in the story. Puccini was a rare talent and this is a chance to hear one of his most inventive operas sung by an internationally renowned cast including Giselle Allen, Rafael Rojas and Robert Hayward.
