Barber Shop Chronicles is a funny, heart-warming production – and you can see it at West Yorkshire Playhouse from Wednesday 12th to Saturday 29th July 2017.
The first thing you need to know about Barber Shop Chronicles is that it’s not your average piece of theatre. Inua Ellams’ touching play has been brought to life with music and movement, so you can expect a mix of grime, Afrobeat and traditional African music with moves to match. It’s absolutely brimming with energy and it’s already getting rave reviews – The Times called it a ‘revelation’, The Guardian pronounced that it ‘begins and ends with a party’ and The Telegraph said it ‘throbs with energy and heat’. Now, who wants to go see it?
Find out what surprises await in the barber shop
There’s more to barber shops than meets the eye. For generations, these shops have welcomed men in, inviting them, not just to get their hair cut, but to join the community. They talk about everything from football and politics to life in general, sharing personal stories of love, loss and family. It’s a cracking little production, like nothing you’ve seen before – and one lucky winner will go for free, because we’re giving away a pair of tickets and a show programme.
Grab a bite at Kendells before the show
Want to make a night of it? No problem, because we’re also giving away a slap up meal at Kendells Bistro. Stop by before or after the show to enjoy three courses of delicious French food in one of the most romantic restaurants in Leeds. You can choose anything from their Menu Prix Fixe, which includes the likes of Gratin Lyonnais, Saumon en Croûte and Crème Brûlée, then wash it down with a bottle of wine to share.
