Ritualistic, rhythmic and almost feral, Damien Jalet’s critically acclaimed YAMA is a must-see – and it’s coming to Riley Theatre on Thursday 23rd November 2017.
Damien Jalet’s reputation precedes him. He’s most famous for Babel, his 2010 collaboration with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, which won a Laurence Olivier award – and YAMA is just as impressive. Jalet created it with the dancers of Scottish Dance Theatre, Scotland’s national contemporary dance company. Renowned visual artist Jim Hodges has added a set that’s truly inspired and Brussels fashion designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard topped it off with costumes that will take your breath away – just wait until you see the dancers in them.
It’s sensual, it’s ritualistic, it’s too damned good to miss
Now, how would you like to see the show? YAMA is coming to Leeds for one night only and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away. Jalet’s hypnotic choreography will have you hooked from the start. Watch as a tangled web of dancers emerge from a hole at the very heart of the mountain and burst into life right before your eyes. You’re in for 55 minutes of mesmerising brilliance, as they move from nude forms to full tribal get-up, changing their style as they go.
Enjoy dinner and drinks at Kith & Kin before the show
It’s not just a cracking show that you’re in for – we’re also throwing in dinner at Kith & Kin. You’ll have £100 to spend on anything you like. You could start with Salt and Pepper Calamari or Moroccan Lamb Koftas before moving onto their famous Grilled Halloumi and Butternut Squash Burger or one of their delectable salads – how about an Oriental Salad topped with rump steak? They have something for everyone, whether you’re veggie, vegan, gluten-free or just downright starving.
