Leeds City Region is a thriving hub for film and TV, and it’s home to some incredible production studios.
When it comes to choosing where to shoot your next production, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Leeds City Region. It’s home to a wealth of world-class film studios and production spaces. From gargantuan, arena-sized stages to city centre set ups and even a film studio within a historic World War II air base, here are the most exciting film and production studios the region has to offer.
Versa Leeds Studios

Versa Leeds Studios is a best-in-class film studio facility offering over 130,000 square foot of production space – and it’s right in the heart of the Leeds South Bank. Versa’s aim is to reimagine the working environment for content production, providing not only the studios in which to film, but all of the surrounding services required to fulfil your production needs.
Versa boasts no less than four stages, and with a studio ceiling height of a huge 27 feet, it’s a great fit for large productions. There’s everything you need to get your show on the road – production offices, makeup studios, wardrobe facilities and a green room gives your staff plenty of room to get set up. What’s more, you’ll find prop stores, workshops and dedicated car parking on-site.

Prime Studios

Prime Studios is a state-of-the-art production space on the creative corridor that is Kirkstall Road. Its facilities are truly second-to-none and a number of Leeds’ most successful independent production companies are now operating out of the studios full-time. Many big name shows have been filmed on the site, as well as commercials for leading brands and music videos.
There are two studios available to rent, including one of the largest infinity coves in the North, which is perfect for large scale productions. Alongside modern production offices, you can utilise makeup studios, wardrobe, storage and even a 4K enabled cinema. The on-site coffee shop and bar is an additional sweetener, and there’s also secure parking.

Church Fenton

Now this is a production studio with a difference. Based at the former Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton is an ex-RAF base, and was one of England’s landmark air defence bases during World War II. It’s been transformed into an incredible production facility and now boasts three humongous hangars totalling almost 100,000 square foot of internal production space.
In addition to reams of studio space, there are workshops and offices, as well as green rooms and costume facilities. Outside, you’ll find a huge network of runways and roadways spanning across 440 acres, with clear vistas providing a perfect base for outdoor shoots. It’s fit for royalty, too – ITV’s Victoria was filmed on-site, with stages 1 and 3 reimagined as Buckingham Palace.

North Light Film Studios
Huddersfield’s North Light Film Studios is a truly unique facility. Encompassing a variety of land and buildings, it’s perfect for interior and exterior adaptation. There’s also parking, prop storage, workshops, offices and an on-site canteen for the crew. Need somewhere for post-production? You’re in luck – there’s space available for audio and visual editing within Brooke’s Mill.
Home to four stages spanning over 19,000 square feet, the site is endlessly versatile – situated within beautiful countryside, there’s woodland, rivers, mill buildings and many more incredible settings all available. What’s more, a supportive studio team is on-hand to make sure your project runs smoothly. Many big name shows have been filmed here, including Happy Valley.

Peregrine Studios
Peregrine is home to the biggest standalone film studio in the North. At almost 50,000 square foot, this gigantic studio comes with all the workshop tools and plants you need for a blockbuster shoot, as well as roller door access, parking and adjoining production offices. If you’re planning a large scale production in an easy-to-access location, Peregrine is a great choice.
With security guards available all day and night, the fully CCTV’d site can be completely closed access, ensuring only approved people are allowed in. If you need to hire equipment, that’s all covered, too, with everything from costume rails and stage decks to heaters and lighting available. Past productions include feature films Hope Gap and Official Secrets.

Production Park Studios

Production Park is a world-class campus with an impressive calibre – and size – of studio space, just a stone’s throw from Leeds. Home to six studios, covering 46,000 square foot, the highlight is XPLOR – Yorkshire’s first-ever Extended Reality facility. Filming in XR is super efficient, removing the need for costly outdoor shoots, where you’re at the mercy of the weather.
It doesn’t stop there. The impressive facilities include a cinema, green room and dressing rooms, as well as production office space and ample parking for buses, trucks and cars. The resident Rockpool cafe will keep you all fed and watered, and there’s even a 14-room hotel available if you need on-site accommodation for performers and crew.
