Are you ready for another batch of new openings? We’ve got four more stellar additions to throw in the mix and they’re a delicious bunch. There’s a dirty burger joint winging its way over from Hull, an acclaimed distillery opening a new gin school and an all-day bar taking over a long-empty venue. Read on to get the lowdown.
Catch Seafood already has two popular restaurants in Calderdale, but now they’re adding a third as they take over the old Bryan’s fish and chip shop in Headingley. They’ve used lockdown as an opportunity to transform the restaurant into a cool, nautical-themed eatery, where you can tuck into tasty seafood sourced from UK ports. Classics like battered haddock and chips sit alongside signature dishes like roast monkfish and aubergine curry.

Hull favourite Dope Burger is coming to Headingley. They’ve won endless acclaim for their oh-so-dirty burgers – they’re stacked high and filled with goodness. Try the Fondue Burger, which oozes cheese everywhere, or go for the chicken-filled DFC Scotch Bonnet, which will set your mouth on fire. That’s not all – they also do vegan patties, hot dogs, loaded fries and milkshakes.

The old Golf Bar near Granary Wharf has been empty for a few years, but not for long because Canal Club arrives Autumn. The day-to-night venue promises a menu of globally-inspired small plates and sharing boards, paired with creative cocktails, before transforming into a buzzing club, with DJs spinning popular dance and R&B anthems until the early hours.
Canal Club is opening on Granary Wharf in 2020.
Nelson’s Distillery and Gin School
In 2016, chef Neil Harrison swapped the kitchen for a distillery. Nelson’s produces award-winning gin, vodka and rum in Staffordshire, but now they’re opening Gin Schools in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. Ours will take over part of the Hilton near Granary Wharf. You’ll learn the history of gin, before you get hands-on making your own perfect bottle from start to finish, tasting their wares as you go.
