You can’t go wrong with a juicy burger piled high with toppings and these five tick all the right boxes.
Next time you’re in the mood for a burger, try one of these brilliant creations. There are loads of different combinations for you to choose from in Leeds, but we’ve rounded up five that steal the show, from a burger that’s made using donuts to a veggie feed even the carnivores will love. So, what are you waiting for? Tuck in!
The Donut Burger at Red’s
Like your burgers a little different? Make a beeline for Red’s True BBQ for their famed Donut Burger. You’ll get a big juicy patty (or two or four if you’re really hungry), made with Yorkshire-sourced chuck and beef rib stuffed between two sweet and sticky donuts which act as your bun. They’ll throw on Unholy BBQ sauce, burger cheese, smoked bacon, crispy onions and Dirty sauce, before drizzling it with Frickles and a pile of chips on the side. And all for £13.50.
Red’s True BBQ, 1 Cloth Hall Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 2HD & 6a Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 2AA.
The Bhaj Mahal at Knave’s Kitchen
Vegan junk food is what Knave’s does best and this Indian twist on a classic is not to be missed. At the heart of the Bhaj Mahal is their fried ‘chick’n’ patty – it’s crispy on the outside and fall-apart tender in the middle. They top it with pickled carrot, crushed poppadoms, vegan raita and shredded lettuce, before wrapping it up in their special naan burger buns. With an onion bhaji skewered on top and a hefty portion of fries, it’s one helluva feed for just £8.50.
Knave’s Kitchen, Oporto, 33 Call Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 7BT.
The Chicken at The Brunswick
Burgers are the downright delicious order of the day at The Brunswick. Their dinner menu is home to three different combos, but our pick has to be the simply-named Chicken. There’s more to it than that, though, as they glaze their deep-fried birds in a special Chipotle sauce that gives this combo a tasty kick. It’s then topped with fresh lettuce and their house sauce, all housed in a seeded potato brioche bun, all for £8.
The Brunswick, 82 North Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 7PN.
The Hey Hot Stuff at Slap & Pickle
Feeling brave? Then try Slap & Pickle’s fiery Hey Hot Stuff burger at Assembly Underground or Beer Hawk. Two massive dry-aged Yorkshire beef patties are covered in American cheese before being stacked high in a brioche bun with onion rings, lettuce and pickles. The devilish heat is brought to you by the copious amounts of jalapeños, roquito chillies and their very own fiery Hey Hot Stuff mayo – it’s a red hot hit for £9.95.
Slap & Pickle, Assembly Underground, 12 Great George Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 3AL & 16 Boar Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6EN.
The Dirty Burger at Patty Smith’s
The Dirty Burger is a legend of the burger world in Leeds and the perfect match for one of Belgrave’s craft beers. It’s a pink-in-the-middle Yorkshire steak mince patty nestled in a brioche bun and piled high with all kinds of treats. We’re talking cheddar, chipotle mayo, American mustard, baby gem lettuce, vine tomatoes and dill pickles. The greatness doesn’t stop there, because it’ll only cost you £6.95.
