· Joseph Sheerin · Family

Try something with the kids next time you eat out in Leeds.

Primo's, Leeds Corn Exchange

Forgo the chicken nuggets and do away with the spaghetti, because these Leeds restaurant will make eating out a little more exciting for the kids.

The last thing you want when you go out for a nice family meal is for the kids to be stuck with boring, run-of-the-mill dishes you wouldn’t feed them at home. So why not make things a little more interesting with a trip to these Leeds eateries. They make eating out as fun for the kids as it is for the adults, so everyone in your party will have a marvellous time.

Fazenda

Kid's activity pack at Fazenda, Leeds

Fazenda is surprisingly good for kids. It’s an interesting format – just like the adults, the little ones can turn their cards to green whenever they’re hungry, and a waiter will come and carve fresh steak at their table. It’s quite a show, so you’ve got the entertainment covered. If they’re adventurous eaters, they’ll love trying the coracāo de frango, otherwise known as chicken hearts, a traditional Brazilian snack – but they also have steak, lamb, chicken thighs and honeyed pork belly. Kids aged 9-12 eat for £10.30, while 5-8 year olds eat for £6.70 and under 5s eat for free. They also have own special plates, cutlery and puzzle books.

Fazenda, Waterman’s Place, Granary Wharf, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 4GL.

Cielo Blanco

Beetroot, Butternut Squash & Feta Salad at Cielo Blanco

At the top of Trinity Leeds, Cielo Blanco is the perfect place to grab a post-shopping bite to eat with the whole family. Nip into the Mexican eatery and get ready to go on a culinary adventure. You can choose six street food plates for £12.50, and since the little ones appetites will be smaller, you’ll get a big feast. They have lots of kid-friendly options on the menu, like the smoky chicken quesadillas and the al pastor pork tacos, but if you want something really special, the chorizo meatballs are always a firm favourite with the kids. This is fun, finger food and the kids will love getting their hands dirty.

Gusto

Gusto Leeds, Greek Street

Italian favourite Gusto is a brilliant choice if you’re eating out with the kids. They go the extra mile to cater for the little ones with a main and a dessert for just £6.95. The kids can tuck into one of their pasta dishes, like the homemade lasagne, but the real fun comes in the form of their Make Your Own Pizza and Build Your Own Burger options. They’ll don a chef’s hat and set about creating their dinner themselves. They can top their own mini pizza, with everything from chopped ham to tuna, pepperoni and pineapple, or fill their mini burgers with sliced tomato, lettuce, cheese, red onion and tomato ketchup.

Zaap

Zaap

Oh come on, you know the kids will love Zaap. It’s a bright, colourful restaurant with everything from dragons to neon light boxes – but that’s not even the best bit. You see, they have real tuk tuks, all set up with tables inside, so you can let the little ones choose their favourite colour and settle down for dinner with a difference. They’ve taken Thai classics and toned them down a touch for the little ones, so you can introduce the kids to something new for as little as £4.50, like Pad Thai Dek Noi, stir fried rice noodles with chicken, bean sprouts, vegetables and ground peanut.

Yo! Sushi

YO! Sushi Corner Belt

Yo! Sushi is great fun for the kids. They have a huge variety of dishes, on bright, colourful plates, and they go around the venue on a conveyor belt, so the kids can grab their favourite plates. It makes the whole experience a little more interactive – and it might even help you get them to try something a little bit different. From tomago nigiri to salmon sashimi and edamame beans, there’s loads to choose from – and if you want something hot, there’s more fun in store because the little ones can just press a button on the table to order, with options like shrimp popcorn or crispy chicken wings.
