L’Art du Fromage is a cheese-loving pop-up restaurant that takes over Le Chalet on Friday and Saturday nights. The star of the show is their raclette. It turns up at your table as a chunk of cheese and a mini grill – cook it yourself and watch as it turns wonderfully gooey. Once it’s done, pour it over the potatoes, charcuterie and cornichons, then tuck in.

You’ve got to try the Queso de Cabra e Hinojo at Ambiente. They breadcrumb a chunk of soft, mild goat’s cheese – when you cut in, a stream of oozy cheesy goodness will flow out. It’s drizzled with honey, and the sweetness cuts through the tartness of the cheese, then they throw on braised fennel and beetroot crisps to finish the job with a satisfying crunch.

Goodness, gracious great balls of… mac and cheese! That’s right, Almost Famous has nailed mac and cheese. They deep fry meatball-sized chunks of cheesy macaroni pasta smothered in their homemade cheese sauce. The result? A crisp outer shell that gives way to a soft, dreamy ball of goodness on the inside. Dip them in the bacon bacon mayo that comes on the side, and you might just forget about their burgers altogether.

2 Oxford Place has the perfect Goat’s Cheese Tart. Their generous wheel of goat’s cheese is served warm, so it’s soft and giving as you break your fork into it. It comes with wild mushrooms on top of a savoury tart filled with baby beetroot, watercress and a chilli ketchup which helps to cut through the richness of the cheese, adding a fiery sweetness that will bring your palate to life.
