These Leeds venues are serving up mulled wine to help you get in the festive spirit.
When that winter chill is in the air, there are few things that warm the cockles like a lovely hot mug of mulled wine or cider. It’s a festive tradition the bars of Leeds aren’t going to miss, so we’ve rounded up eight of the best places in the city where you can treat yourself to a jar or two.
Every Saturday through December, Headrow House is transforming into a Winter Beer Hall. They’ll have outdoor fire pits, choir singers, pretzels, German oompah bands, bratwurst, raclette cheese and steins of German beer, as well as plenty of mulled wine for £4 a glass. Now that will really make it feel like Christmas.

North Bar is the city’s beer library, with rare tipples from all around the world, so it will come as no surprise to see them get into the festive spirit. For the now, they’ve just got mulled cider on offer, at £3.50 for a half, however, they may add mulled wine into the equation closer to Christmas.

Thor’s Tipi Bar
Thor’s Tipi Bar is bringing the festive feeling to Leeds with its Viking-themed haunt at Victoria Gardens. Of course they have mulled wine and cider at the bar – and they’ll set you back just £4. The Scandi Gluhwein is a warm mulled wine, with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and spices, which you can add a shot of brandy to if you like, while the hot cider is mixed with plum, orange and ginger spices.

The beer hall may be gone but you can still indulge in a mug of mulled wine at the German Market, at the Kuh Stall and Ski Hutte, or you can pay a visit to the Alp Chalet restaurant and have some with a meal. They have more than just the traditional ‘gluhwein’ on offer – you can get it with rum, amaretto or even with both, with prices starting from a fiver. If you’re in a group you can also get a copper jug full with a litre costing £19.50.
