Cocktails in the City are celebrating their fifth anniversary with a two-day extravaganza – and you won’t want to miss it.
Every year, Cocktails in the City invades Leeds Town Hall and this year will be no different. The cocktail-obsessed event will run across two nights, from Thursday 6th to Friday 7th April 2017 – and they have a host of exclusive experiences to guarantee it’s a night to remember. Previous events have sold out in record time, so grab your tickets while you can.
20 of the city’s best bars serving 20 one-off cocktails
At the heart of the event, are the cocktails – and there are plenty for you to choose from. They’re bringing together some of the city’s best bars, with the likes of Angelica, Vice & Virtue, The Alchemist and the soon-to-open Tattu all getting in on the action. They’ll each have their own pop-up bar and they’ll be serving a one-off cocktail created specially for the event – this is your chance to try a medley of exclusives, all for £6 a pop.
Drink G&Ts in the clock tower
Ever ascended the 203 steps to the clock tower? It’s a unique space with views that look out across the city and you can even get a glimpse of the inner workings of the clock – but that’s not the only reason to head up there, because Blind Tyger have teamed up with Mr Ableforth to take you back to the British Raj with a unique gin and tonic experience. Rediscover the classic drink in a unique location, with a fresh carbonated G&T on arrival and a tour of the clock tower.
Indulge in a sherry & pinxto food matching experience
With low alcohol, low sugar and loads of flavour, sherry is tipped to be the next big thing – and you can try it here first, because Pintura have teamed up with Lustau Sherry to create a food pairing experience like no other. They’ll serve up a flight of sherry cocktails, and match each one with a pinxto dish created by their executive chef – so you’ll get a chance to experience the joys of Basque cuisine with your drink.
Bottle your own rum punch to take home
Want to make the fun last even after the event has finished? Then sign up to the The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum Experience. This is your chance to mix up a cocktail for yourself, as they show you how to make your own signature rum punch. Armed with a ladle and bowl, you’ll mix up a drink of your own, then fight it out against your friends for the Prize Punch Award, before bottling your drink to take home.
Escape the Victorian prison cells in Wonderland style
Leeds based escape game, Tick Tock Unlock, will be taking over the Victorian prison cells beneath the Town Hall for an exclusive Alice in Wonderland locked-in experience. In this new game, Alice has been locked up by The Queen of Hearts, and you have just 20 minutes to set her free, or else the Queen will set the Jabberwocky on you. Can you do it?
Drink coffee cocktails & brush up your barista skills
This double-whammy will see you holed up with the guys from 200 Degrees. The Nottingham coffee roasters, who’ve just opened a new cafe on Bond Street, are celebrating the launch of their Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate with a coffee and cocktail session. Led by their head baristas, you can learn how to brew the perfect coffee and dabble in a little cocktail making while supping a Vodka Espresso.
Get a Cocktails in the City Membership Card worth £20
To celebrate their fifth birthday, Cocktails in the City are giving everyone who attends the event a free membership card worth £20, and it’ll give you access to a hoard of exclusive perks over the next 12 months. We’re talking cocktail masterclasses, preview nights, launch events and offers from some of the world’s best spirits and the city’s best bars.

This year, the hidden forest beneath Leeds Town Hall will be transformed into a street food market. So if you need to fill your belly ahead of all those cocktails, why not head downstairs to indulge in award-winning vegetarian Indian street food by Manjit’s Kitchen, homemade pizzas from Pizza Bus, flame grilled bangers from Smak! and alpine treats from Gondola Raclette?
