It’s time to get excited about these impending arrivals.

There’s a quartet of intriguing new shops, bars and eateries coming to Leeds before the year is through.

Barely two weeks have passed since we told you about the last batch of openings coming soon to Leeds, and yet, here we are with another set for you to get excited about. A popular children’s bookshop will be popping up in the city centre, an old Horsforth favourite is going through big changes and a prolific restaurant group is adding a new all-day eatery to its bow. But that’s just the beginning, find out what else is coming soon.

The Malt Brewhouse

Beer, brewery

Horsforth’s Bar 166 will soon be no more. It’ll shut on Sunday 4th November 2018, then, after two weeks of refurbishments, it’ll reopen as The Malt Brewhouse. This will be the first bar in Horsforth to have its very own microbrewery on-site, with 16 lines so you can try their latest creations alongside a host of local brews. Expect a menu of quality pub grub, a medley of classic cocktails, shuffleboard tables and live entertainment on a regular basis.

The Malt Brewhouse will open at 166 Town Street, Horsforth on Friday 16th November 2018.

Wok to Work

After opening four hugely popular eateries in London, Wok to Work will make its first home outside the capital in Leeds. This is Asian food, DIY style. You start with your base, with a choice of four types of noodles, two types of rice or their veggie mix. Then you add in your main ingredients, from chicken katsu to tofu, mixed peppers and bamboo shoots. Next up is the sauce – there are eight and they’re all named after places, so Tokyo is sweet teriyaki, Beijing is oyster sauce and Koh Tao is green curry. Finish it off with a sprinkling of nuts, seeds or coriander.

Wok to Work opens at 34 Bond Street by the end of 2018.

Dough in the City

Dough in the City

It’s been a busy year for Luke Dowling and Laura MacLeod – Aperitivo opened at the end of 2017, followed by Feed this summer. Now it’s time for Dough in the City. The name is a homage to their original North Leeds restaurant, Dough Bistro, and you can find it on the ground floor below Vice & Virtue. This time around, they’ve gone for a modern pub-vibe, somewhere that’s accessible to everyone, where you can head for breakfast or brunch during the day, then follow it up with big meals, cocktails and craft beer in the evening.

Dough in the City will open underneath the current Vice & Virtue in November 2018.
