From cat cafes to cocktail bars, Leeds is set to welcome a host of new openings.
Another week, another batch of impending arrivals for Leeds to look forward to. These four new openings are well worth keeping an eye out for – think healthy fast food favourites and a rock’n’roll cocktail bar, as well as a hotel that probably wouldn’t be exciting, if it weren’t for where it’s opening.
It’s been a long time coming but Leon finally have plans to bring their high-end fast food chain to Leeds. They’re everywhere in London, but only have a handful of eateries outside the capital, including the Trafford Centre. They’re looking at potential sites in Leeds, where you’ll able to pick up their tasty, but healthy Mediterranean-inspired food. Tuck into muffins, porridge pots and smoothies for breakfast or head over at lunch for salads, wraps and burgers. Whatever you choose, it’s all good for you, and it’s all scrummy.
Leon plans to open in Leeds by the end of the year.
After huge success in Liverpool, Chester and Manchester, Red Door is coming to Leeds this summer. It’s a rock’n’roll cocktail bar and it’s found a spot on Call Lane. Expect an American-style speakeasy decor with a proper party vibe as classic tunes blare out of the speakers – the cocktails are the real rock stars of Red Door though. They’re ‘changing the world one drink at a time’ with a menu of unique concoctions you won’t find elsewhere in Leeds.

It’s happening – Leeds is getting a cat cafe. Nottingham’s Kitty Cafe is coming to Merrion Centre this summer. The cafe doubles up as a cat rescue centre, so most of the cats you see have been neutered, microchipped and are now looking for a home. But even if you can’t keep them, you can still enjoy a cuppa with them, because the cafe is open throughout the week, serving up sandwiches, pizzas and paninis to hungry cat-lovers.

You’ve probably been on an EasyJet plane, but have you ever tried their hotels? EasyHotel has a string of cheap and cheerful hotels – and they’re coming to Leeds in 2018. After successful starts in London, Liverpool and Glasgow, they’re taking over the former Miss Selfridge unit on Lands Lane – yep, that’s the one with the hidden theatre, so we’re on tenterhooks here, wondering if they’ll preserve a slice of Leeds’ history or turn it into a maze of hotel rooms. Watch this space – we’re going to find out.
Easyhotel is opening on 14-22 Lands Lane in 2018.
