Leeds-List can now exclusively reveal when The Ivy Victoria Quarter will open…
The Ivy Collection announced plans for a new Leeds restaurant in February 2017. Since then, it’s been the talk of the town, but very few details have been released – until now. We’ve got the inside scoop on the opening date, the decor and the menu, so if you want to know what they’ve got planned for their new digs, keep reading.
First things first – The Ivy Victoria Quarter will officially open on Tuesday 25th September 2018. It’s coming along nicely – they’ve engaged the critically-acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio to transform the venue into a modern brasserie with a classic yet contemporary decor. It’s spread across two floors, with two terraces that look down on the central bar made of onyx.
By day, you can enjoy morning coffees and leisurely lunches in a bright airy restaurant surrounded by original art. Handpicked by Adam Ellis, The Ivy Collection’s Art Consultant, it takes inspiration from the city and its landmarks, so it’s unique to Leeds. Coupled with a marble floor, polished parquet and leather banquettes, it simply oozes sophistication. Later in the day, you can gather for drinks and dinner under their statement pendant lights.
But what about the food? The menu will be tailored to Leeds, but it won’t be a huge departure from their other restaurants. They all take inspiration from The Ivy in Covent Garden, but they also have international influences, so the menu is surprisingly eclectic. You can start the day with avocado and spinach Benedict or hot buttermilk pancakes before moving onto hearty dishes like shepherd’s pie made with slow braised lamb shoulder, beef and Wookey Hole Cheddar potato mash.
We caught up with Sean Burbidge, Executive Chef for The Ivy Collection, to find out what would make it onto the menu – and he gave us a few teasers. There’s an apple and stilton salad with golden raisins, caramelised hazelnuts, celery and Belgian endives. Or how about blackened cod, baked in a banana leaf with citrus-pickled fennel, grilled broccoli, chilli and yuzu mayonnaise. And they’ve got something very special lined up for dessert – rum baba, a sponge cake soaked in plantation rum and served with Chantilly cream and raspberries.
Anticipation is rising, but you don’t have long to wait now. The Ivy Victoria Quarter opens on Tuesday 25th September 2018 and we can’t wait to check it out – see you there?
