For one night only, you can enjoy Dakota Deluxe’s 3-course festive dinner with a free glass of fizz and two free cocktails…>
What would you say if we told you that you could have a cracking night out in one of the city’s most luxurious hotels for just £30? That’s exactly what’s on the table this November. Dakota Deluxe is gearing up for the festive season with a new menu that’s made completely from scratch with locally-sourced ingredients – and on Thursday 15th November 2018, you can try it out with a medley of free drinks.
A 3-course feast that’s too good to miss (and all for just £30)
This is traditional Christmas fare with a refined twist, so you can enjoy all your favourite festive dishes. There are four options at every course, with something for absolutely everyone – the tricky bit is choosing.
To start, you could have the Chicken Liver & Truffle Parfait. It’s made with Madeira and brandy, then coated in truffle butter and served with their homemade chutney – expect festive flavours with a hint of cinnamon and cloves. But that’s just the beginning. They have Smoked Salmon Blinis too, not to mention Butternut Squash & Sweet Potato Soup, but it’s the Salad of Heritage Tomato that has our attention. Ripe tomatoes are paired with goat’s cheese and roasted golden, candied and red beetroot, then plated up in beautiful fashion.
The main course is just as good. If you’re sticking to the classics, it has to be the Ballotine of Yorkshire Turkey. It’s butterflied, filled with chestnut, apricot and turkey leg stuffing, then wrapped in Parma ham – top it with their homemade 36-hour gravy and job’s a good ‘un. Alternatively, you could try the Slow Cooked Beef Shoulder. They get their beef from Donald Russell, a Scottish supplier on a royal warrant to the Queen, so expect the very best. It’s slow cooked for up to 36 hours in Black Sheep ale, then braised to caramelise it and cooked for another 6 hours until the meat is fall-apart tender.
Fancy something lighter? They’ve got a Poached Salmon Fillet with a chestnut crumb and Champagne velouté or Pithivier of Artichoke stuffed with spinach and Harrogate Blue cheese. And whatever you choose, you’ll get family-style veggies, served to share, along with goose-fat roasted potatoes.
Finally, you can finish your meal with their Traditional Christmas Pudding. This little beauty has been in the planning for months. It’s absolutely brimming with fruit. Plump sultanas, raisins, cranberries and cherries are mulled in suet, brandy and port for almost two months, then steamed for an hour on the day. If you’re saving your Christmas pud for the big day, you could try their Continental Cheese Selection, Glazed Lemon Tart, or perhaps, the Dark Chocolate & Orange Delice. The latter is made with layer upon layer of chocolate sponge and créme Chantilly, topped with orange gel and a dark chocolate glaze.
Enjoy a glass of fizz and two festive cocktails on us
The evening begins in The Grill. You can arrive any time between 6pm and 6:30pm to enjoy a welcome glass of fizz before you sit down to a delicious feed. But the fun continues in The Salon after dinner with festive cocktails served from 8:30pm. The first is the Rum-pa-pum Punch, a dazzling mix of Bacardi Carta Oro, Disaronno, amaretto, apricot, cinnamon, pomegranate, honey syrup and orange bitters. That’s followed by their light and bubbly creation, The Fizz Noel, which brings together mulled wine syrup, prosecco and just a twist of orange.
