Chinese food has never tasted so good
Tattu isn’t your average Chinese restaurant. They use innovative cooking techniques, premium ingredients and a little bit of creative flair to take oriental food to new heights, so raise your expectations and prepare to be wowed.
Each of their restaurants has its own dim sum master. It takes years of intense training to reach this level, but when you bite into those soft, gooey morsels, you’ll see why it’s worth all the effort. They have a vast selection for you to choose from. Wild mushroom spring rolls, beef gyoza, chicken truffle shumai, you name it, they’ve got it. Can’t decide? Their mixed dim sum basket gives you three delectable dumplings in one. You can snaffle red Thai curry in a mini money bag, devour wagyu beef wrapped in kimchi-dyed dough or nibble an open dim sum topped with hand-dived scallops, rock shrimp and wasabi caviar.
Starters don’t just take the form of dim sum. You can also choose from a selection of small plates, perfect for sharing. There’s crispy belly pork, seared tuna and chilli crusted tofu, but if you want utter indulgence, go for the sticky beef short rib. This little beauty is prepared 24 hours in advance – it’s slow-cooked for 12 hours, then pressed for another 12, so all the juices are soaked up into meat. The result? Melt-in-your-mouth tender meat that packs a real punch in the flavour department.
For the main event, and assuming you’ve resisted the temptation of turning their small plates into Chinese tapas, they have a little bit of everything. You can go all-out with ribeye steak bulgogi or keep it simple with shiitake ho fun noodles, but it’s fair to say that whatever you choose will come with Tattu’s signature flair. Take the aromatic duck for example. On the surface, it looks like the dish you know and love. Their skin-on duck is cooked to crispy perfection and served with homemade pancakes, it even has the traditional cucumber and spring onion, but they’ve elevated the dish to fine-dining status with their cherry liqueur hoisin and Szechuan chilli oil, all made fresh.
Every dish has the same attention to detail. The fillet steak comes with a rich, luxurious caramel soy sauce that simply has to be tried. The black cod, which is in itself a rarity, is baked in a hoba leaf with ginger and miso. And the wok-fired angry bird is seasoned with no less than 20 ingredients to create a dish that’s sweet, sour and salty, all at once. Doing Veganuary? Try the oyster mushroom hot pot. It’s a rich, warming dish filled with different textures and flavours.
Dessert is definitely worth leaving room for, and with 30% off, why the hell not? If you fancy sharing, try the chocolate brownie pagoda. Three velvety-smooth brownies are topped with spiced mascarpone ice cream and a chocolate pagoda roof. In Chinese culture, pagodas are a symbol of success, so the idea is that when you break through the roof, you’re sharing your success with each other.
Of course, if you want to keep your pudding all to yourself (and we wouldn’t blame you), the Cherry Blossom is just as good. It’s a feast for the senses. The base is made with white chocolate and cherry mousse, layered with cherry coulis. It’s topped with chocolate soil, a chocolate tree and leaves of candy floss, so it looks just like a cherry blossom. Wait, there’s more! Because when they bring it to your table, they’ll pour cherry essence over dry ice to create a delicious smelling mist. We defy anyone not to be impressed by this.
