Cast your vote for the The British Street Food Awards winner as twenty five street food vendors from around the world battle it out in Millennium Square this September.
In 2009, BBC Four’s ‘The Food Programme’ presenter, Richard Johnson, began The British Street Food Awards to help celebrate the talented street food chefs in Britain and Europe. This year, you can help decide the winners as you enjoy a fun-filled weekend of great food and drink at For The Love of Food.
After competing through six tense regional heats, twenty five street food vendors from Britain and Europe will battle it out for the highly coveted title of Best of the Best. The winner will be decided by famous foodies and celebrity chefs – but don’t worry, you’ll get your say too.
Indulge in tasty treats from a range of finalists including a BBQ laboratory, a solar powered kitchen from Helsinki, a converted horse box, Punjabi snacks and much more. When you’ve finished exploring the various cuisines on offer, vote for your favourites for their twelve awards.
Your For The Love of Food ticket will allow you to sample each of the twenty five street foods on offer. Of course, you’ll need something to cleanse your pallet too – so visit the Erdinger Weissbrau hut, a Trappist beer van and the Brooklyn beer truck for a free brew. And if cocktails are your poison of choice, you’ll find plenty of delicious concoctions at the festival’s secret pop-up bars.
Bring the whole family along to the Village Green, complete with vintage caravans and a kids’ corner too. The little ones can enjoy street food crazy golf and The Real Junk Food Project will mix up free smoothies for the kids as well as non-drinkers.
That’s not all. You can spend all day at For The Love of Food as you kick back in the Dogtown Guitar Lounge with tunes courtesy of Heavenly Recordings, watch celeb chefs battle against street food chefs on stage, learn how to start up your own street food venture and watch live art.
For The Love of Food will be held at Millennium Square from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September 2014. Tickets are available.
