Fill your chops with a belly-busting lunch and bucket-loads of wine
Chez Mal may be cosy, but gee whizz they know how to put on a sumptuous spread. Their sumptuous Sunday roast dinner begins with a trip to the Chef’s Table, where you can load your plate with unlimited hors d’oeuvres. You can build-your-own seafood cocktails, load your plate with meaty charcuterie boards and fill up on smoked salmon. They’ve got fresh homemade soups too and zingy salads that will leave plenty of space for your roasties. Pack your plate with as much as you want, come back for more if you want, just remember there’s a full Sunday roast on the way!
You’ve got a trio of roast dinner choices, each packed with serious attitude. The secret to the Argentine sirloin’s umami taste? A deeply savoury marmite marinade. The roast pork’s oh-so-crispy crackling? Slow-cooked overnight, then crisped in the pan. The veggie roast? Utterly seasonal – one week you could be sitting down to slow-cooked celeriac, the next it could be garlicky roast pumpkin.
The sides are just as indulgent. You’ll get a generous helping of maple-slicked carrots and parsnips, fresh greens, crispy roast potatoes and thyme ’n’ rosemary Yorkshire puds so fluffy they’d make your nanna proud. And the gravy? Chez Mal make theirs in an enormous vat loaded with onions, garlic, thyme, roasted veal bones and no less than four bottles of red wine. It takes four whole days to reduce it to rich-as-you-like perfection, then it’s yours for the scoffing.
The boozy cherry on top of this offer is you can toast your savings by guzzling a free-flowing stream of house red or white wine throughout the feast. Chez Mal’s ever-attentive waiting staff will keep your glasses topped up with a fruity French grenache (the perfect red for that succulent sirloin) or a citrus-heavy white Ugni-Colombar (a fine choice for, well, pretty much everything else). Bottoms up!
