Pinche Pinche is renowned for its Mexican tapas, but that’s not all they do – their brilliant burritos are a must try. There are loads of different fillings to choose from, from marinated chicken and beef brisket to barbacoa lamb and pulled pork, but why not try a tasty alternative?

Neon Cactus is a thriving Call Lane bar, but if you pop in during the day, you can treat yourself to their menu of Mexican street food. The burritos are a cornerstone of their offering – you’ve got a choice of pulled Yorkshire pork, chilli beef cheek, slow-cooked tinga chicken or spiced sweet potato. It comes with green rice, refried beans, Neon slaw and pico de gallo. Watching your waistline? You can do away with the tortilla and replace it with a Romaine lettuce and vine tomato wrap.

Burritos are what Tortilla does best, and boy have they mastered their craft. It’s all about what you want and the options are plentiful. First you decide if you want a standard or a large one. Then it’s onto rice – coriander or tomato? They do grilled chicken, steak, pork carnitas or barbacoa beef, all of which are covered in their special marinades, before being cooked and piled on your wrap. Top it with beans, peppers and onions, then select a salsa, throw on sour cream, guacamole or cheese, and if you dare, sprinkle on a few jalapeños. It all comes together wonderfully.

The Mexican Pilgrim
The Mexican Pilgrim is just a humble street food truck, but with burritos as good as theirs, it’s worth seeking out whenever it’s at East Parade or Wellington Place. Expect a jam-packed and delightfully messy tortilla. The menu changes regularly, depending on what they can source, but usually you’ll have a choice of diced chicken breast in their own spice blend, pork carnitas in a homemade red wine & chipotle BBQ sauce and marinated minced beef. Veggie? Fear not, they’ve always got you covered. Their burritos are filled with rice, refried beans, Romaine lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo.
