New Year’s Eve is the biggest night of the year and the city is coming out in force to help you say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018. But with so many options, where should you go? We’ve rounded up some of the biggest and best nights out in Leeds this NYE to help you choose.
If you love hip-hop and r&b, Headrow House is the place to go for your NYE celebrations in Leeds. Their It’s All Good Party runs from 9pm and it’s entry is free. There are three spaces, each dedicated to a different styles of urban music. You can listen to old school rap from Downtown Science in the beer hall, while upstairs in the first floor gig venue it’s all about the golden age of hip-hop with tunes courtesy of Tom Dyer and special guests. You can even take it outdoors as their Redondo Beach bar and roof terraces will be home to pure hip-hop and r&b bangers with DJ Finch.

You can start your New Year’s Eve celebrations early at East 59th. The New York-style loft will be kicking things off with a special NYE brunch from 11am to 4pm with unlimited prosecco and Bloody Marys. But the real party starts at 8:30pm, when they invite you join them for Manhattan-inspired rooftop party. Tickets are £20 and include freeflow canapés all night. You won’t be short of entertainment either, because they’ve lined up live percussion and DJ Angel Lee and friends will be taking you through to the early hours.

Ring in the New Year in the sleek surroundings of 53 Degrees North. They’ve got a night of brilliant house and electronica DJs lined up for your final party of 2017. Leading the bill is Sandy Rivera, a renowned producer from New York who’s also known for his work as Kings of Tomorrow. Expect tunes spanning his 25 year career. He’ll be accompanied by Jaegerossa and Paul Murray until the early hours. It’s free to get in, but make sure you get there early because it’s going to be popular.

Wire is doing something a little bit different for New Year’s Eve. The Leeds club is raising funds for the Leeds Community Garden Kitchen, so every penny of their £5 entry fee will be going to this worthwhile cause. That’s right, your big night out comes with added feel good. They’ve teamed up with local promoters Nørd to put on an almighty bill worth putting your hand in your pockets for – Valby Rotary, Loop Hole and House for the Homeless will take you into 2018.

Crafthouse & Angelica
D&D’s Trinity Leeds venues are going all out for NYE. Start at Crafthouse where you can enjoy a special 5-course chef’s tasting menu with a glass of fizz for £80. You can enjoy dishes like roast chestnut veloute and Atlantic halibut curry, until 8pm when the Neverland party begins. Advanced tickets are £22.50 and it’s spread across both venues. Crafthouse will be home to a Warehouse reunion as original disco favourites Ian Dewhirst and Paul Schofield takeover the decks, while Clara da Costa and Sara Garvey bring the warmth of Ibiza to Angelica.

Revolución de Cuba
Fancy something a little bit different? Try Revolución de Cuba’s Año Nuevo celebration. Expect Cuban dancing and DJs until the early hours. It’s free entry, but you can make your night one to remember with their drinks packages – bag a cocktail wristband for £26 which gets you three cocktails or get a bucket of Peroni beers for £46. If you want to start your celebrations early, you can get their tapas tasting menu for £17.95 before 7pm or for £44.95 after 8pm (don’t worry, you’ll get a mojito on arrival and champagne at midnight to make it worth your while).

New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest nights of the year at Space, as they team up with No Curfew to party until 5am. You’ve got two rooms to choose from, the main room will be playing house, deep and tech, while room two will be spinning hip-hop, r&b and garage tunes. Early bird tickets start from just £4, and you get plenty for your money – we’re talking confetti canons, lasers and pyrotechnics. The HiFi Club
The HiFi Club’s NYE celebrations are twofold. First off, you’ve got The Comedy Sessions New Year’s Eve Special, with Justin Moorhouse, Junior Simpson, Katie Mulgrew and Barry Dodds. Tickets are £22.50 and will also get you into the Move On Up NYE Party for free, but you can just go to the clubnight if you want, with entry just £5. It’ll get your feet moving to the sounds of the finest 60s and 70s soul tunes – think Steve Wonder, The Supremes and Jackie Wilson.

The Rainbow Factory
Treat the kids to a day out at The Rainbow Factory in Leeds for A Very Disney New Year’s Eve Party. You can join some of Disney’s best loved characters, including Peter Pan who’ll take you on an amazing tour around Neverland. Along the way, you’ll get to go on a story trail with Rapunzel, dance with Bella, sing-a-long with Elsa and get crafty with Snow White. It all ends with a mini foam party before you’re given party bags to take into 2018 with you – if they last that long that is. Tickets are £4 for kids under 2 and £10 for kids over 2.

Beaver Works will turn into the ‘Circus of the Lost’ on New Year’s Eve this year. Spread across eight different rooms, they’ll have DJs in each spinning everything from drum and bass to psy-trance, house and techno. But there’s more than just music for your £12 ticket – the venue will be filled with circus performers whose tricks will blow you away. There are also fairground rides, an outdoor bonfire and fireworks to bring in 2018.

Vice and Virtue
Why not end the year with an evening of fine dining, cocktails and live music at Vice and Virtue? Luke Downing’s renowned restaurant has two ways to ring in the New Year. The restaurant will offer up an 11-course tasting menu for £75 per person, with dishes like swordfish cured in carrot gin with saffron, spiced roast carrot and pickled cucumber. In their bar, they’ll have a separate, more relaxed food menu as well as cocktails and live music. You can book one of their booths in the bar for 6 to 8 people for £100, which will be transferred to a bar tab on the night.

A masquerade ball is a New Year’s Eve favourite and that’s exactly what Oulton Hall will be offering this year. Don your finest formal wear and masks for an evening that starts with canapés and a glass of bubbly. You’ll then sit down for a four-course meal, followed by a live band and DJs until the early hours. If you don’t want the party to end, you can even book in for the night with one of their accommodation packages, which will also get you breakfast to ease away that hangover. You can enjoy a luxurious New Year’s Eve at Issho. Head up to their incredible rooftop restaurant to enjoy champagne on arrival before an exclusive five course tasting menu for £75 per person. Ring in 2018 with two music icons we’ve lost in recent years. Belgrave Music Hall will be throwing aRebel Rain party in their first floor gig venue – expect David Bowie and Prince tunes playing back to back, along with songs from artists they’ve influenced over the years. They’ve got special cocktails lined up, as well as on-stage visuals and a photo booth. Look out for one-off creations from Patty Smith’s and Dough Boys to keep you fed too. Revolution Electric Press are going all out for NYE with DJs, confetti canons and drinks deals. DJ Poppy will be blasting chart and house beats in the main room, as DJ Kamsi takes over the courtyard bar with all your favourite hip-hop and r&b tunes. BBC Radio 1’s very own Scott Mills is coming to Leeds to mark the New Year and you can join him at Pryzm. He’ll be headlining in the main room – expect to hear the biggest anthems, old and new. The Curve Bar is their more intimate space, where you’ll hear hip-hop jams, and you can relive the good old days in the Disco Bar with DJ Daniel Simpson. For one day only, the Peaky Blinders are taking over management of The Maven. Not looking for a big New Year’s Eve night out? Why not spend it at the cinema? Hyde Park Picture House is inviting you to ring in 2018 with Charlie Chaplin. From 4.30pm, they’re throwing a Chaplin-themed party, with a double-feature screening its centrepiece. You’ll get to sit back and enjoy City Lights and The Great Dictator with tickets starting from £9 for adults.

Victoria Gate Casino is celebrating its first ever New Year’s Eve with an all night party bringing together food, live music and DJs. Treat yourself to a meal at Ox Club to celebrate New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve marks the last of Smokestack’s 10 year anniversary events, and they’re going out with a bang. Their Decade of New Year’s Party kicks off with live blues from Charley Hicks in The Lounge before legendary Smokestack DJ Chico Malo gets on the decks to take you into January. Why not head to The Domino Club for a night of live music and cocktails this New Year’s Eve? Duke Studios is getting its house party vibe on to welcome 2018. Their NYE at Sheaf St shindig is one for music lovers with two rooms of stellar house, disco and big beat DJs, like Michael Upson, Psychemagik and Marshall Hackett. Tickets are £13 and they’ll get you more than just a night of great music. They’re going to have a glitterisation station, a brand new soundsystem and even indoor loos for the first time. It’s all about having fun, just make sure you turn up drenched in sequins and glitter.

Leeds’ only sports and video game bar is throwing a big old New Year’s Eve Party to wave goodbye to their opening year. You’ll get a glass of champagne on arrival with a hot food buffet throughout the night as well as your choice of champagne or whiskey to toast at midnight. It’s £20 a ticket and they’ll have live music, a DJ and a special guest act to entertain you throughout the night. Alternatively, you can have a go on one of their games consoles. Look out for their limited edition NYE cocktails too.

Mint Warehouse will play host to two of the biggest names in Leeds’ club scene over the past three decades for New Year’s Eve. Subdub and Jungle Jam are teaming up for one hell of a party, and tickets are £17. Expect three rooms of full-on dub, jungle and drum & bass, with a few surprises to catch you out throughout the night.

The biggest party of Revolution’s year on Call Lane is New Year’s Eve, so you won’t want to miss it this year. Canal Mills is going all out for its New Year’s Eve party in Leeds. They’ve managed to secure one of the UK’s most talented house DJs Hannah Wants to headline their NYE shindig. For £20 a ticket, you can see her alongside an array of house and bass talent. Radio 1’s Danny Howard will take to the decks, as will Sonny Fodera, Go!Some and Understate who’ll keep the tunes going until 5.30am.

If you want to do something different this NYE 2017, make a beeline for Roundhay Park. It’s home to The Magical Lantern Festival, the UK’s biggest Chinese Lantern Festival – follow their trail around the park to see 30 huge displays, from the Chinese Temple of Heaven to a safari zoo, complete with zebras, lions and giraffes. Afterwards, you can toast the New Year with a glass of mulled wine in their tipi bar (there’s hot chocolate for the kids) before feasting on street food. Tickets are £9.50 for kids, £13.50 for adults or £10.50 per person for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 kids or 1 adult and 3 kids).

Banyan are looking Stateside for their New Year’s Eve shenanigans – you can celebrate 2018 with the NYE Chicago Party. They’re rolling back the year’s to Prohibition-era 1920’s in the Windy City for a night of glitz and glamour. It’s free entry but you can book a table from 7pm, with two bottles of prosecco thrown in for groups of four and above starting at £100. If you get down early, they have exclusive set menus until 6pm, followed by DJs from 8pm.

Projekt are going all out for NYE 2017. Head down to O2 Academy Leeds where their DJs will be spinning grime, hip hop, r&b, house and chart tunes throughout the evening. It may be New Year’s Eve, but you’ll still get some pretty decent drinks offers here – and if you get your tickets early enough, they’re just £6. However, unlike their usual Saturday parties, there will be no entry on the door, so make sure you book yours.

Friends of Ham
Friends of Ham only know how to celebrate New Year’s Eve in one way – with a Hammy Hogmanay for £30 per person. They’re serving up ham and cheese all evening, as well as mulled cider and a glass of fizz at midnight, all included in your ticket price. They’re also planning two live Leeds bands, with jazz music on the ground floor and barnstorming blues tunes in the Piggery basement. Make sure you book in advance though, as it’s likely to sell out.

You have two chances to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Bibis Italianissimo. They kick things off with a Matinee dinner from 12pm until 5pm for £50 per person, before starting celebrations in earnest at 7pm with their New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner. You can sit in their main restaurant area in full view of the live entertainment for £115 per person or in the cocktail dining area for £85 per person. Either way, you’ll get a three-course menu of Italian favourites, followed by coffee and petit fours, while you enjoy one of their fantastic live music tribute acts.

If you want to bring in New Year’s Eve in a club, Mission has one hell of a line-up for Love Leeds NYE. This is one long 12 hour party – it starts at 10pm and goes all the way through to 10am. In that time, they’ve got 24 incredible acts for you take in – and all for £20. The line-up is led by local legends and chart-toppers Tom Zanetti & K.O. Kane, who are joined by Dale Castell, Tom Garnett, Graham Dixon, Ryan James, Stuart Robinson and many more. It is, quite frankly, a feast of house music.

Leeds Town Hall
Almost as traditional as Auld Lyne Sang at midnight, Leeds Town Hall celebrates New Year’s Eve with an afternoon of Viennese waltzes, marches and polkas in the Victoria Hall. Led by the Orchestra of Opera North with conductor Julian Brown, you can expect to hear the likes of ‘By the Beautiful Blue Danube’, ‘Roses from the South’ and ‘Tritsh-Tratsch Polka’. Your ticket, which you can get from £10.60, gets you a glass of bubbly or orange juice on arrival.

Candypants are starting 2018 with a bang at Oracle. It opens at 9pm for a complimentary champagne reception in the ground floor bar, before the first floor club venue opens up at 10pm with their resident DJs spinning tunes. They’ve also got a fancy dress box and, of course, the Candygirls. Be quick with your tickets though as the £15 early bird offer comes to a close at the end of November.

Leeds Grand Theatre
One of the most popular Christmas films in recent years is now an acclaimed musical and Nativity! is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre. It’s the perfect alternative to the normal NYE night out, as you follow a star-studded cast including Daniel Boys, Sarah Earnshaw and Simon Lipkin as they attempt to put on a memorable nativity at St Bernadette’s School. Chaos ensues as a Hollywood producer is apparently coming to see them – expect plenty of jokes, sing-along hits and loads of festive cheer.

New Indian street food restaurant Gabbar is undergoing something of a transformation for NYE. Their New Year’s Eve Party promises a glass of bubbly and a three-course buffet of vegetarian chapata Indian cuisine for £28 per person, with special offers on beers, wine and cocktails all night. They’re also putting in a huge sound system for the night with DJs playing house, funky house and electro until 2am.

Dirty Martini is going all out with its Martinis at Midnight New Year’s Eve party –the dress code is Glitter is the New Black, so come glammed up in your sparkliest party-wear. You’ll get a free glass of prosecco if you get there between 8pm and 9pm. But that’s just the beginning. They’ll have DJs spinning the decks until 3am – and you can get their famous martinis for just £5 from 11pm to 1am. Tickets are just £5 until Sunday 17th December 2017, so don’t hang about.

New Craven Hall
Now this one is a bit different – yes, it’s a massive rave, but it’s one you can bring the whole family to. Boomchikkaboom are coming to New Craven Hall for an afternoon party with real DJs playing dance classics you’ll remember from your days of proper partying. Tickets start at £3 for the kids and £9 for adults and there’ll be dance battles, face painting, confetti canons, an inflatable rave cube (whatever that is) and loads more – it’s a NYE the whole family will love.

The grand surroundings of Browns are a lovely setting to spend your New Year’s Eve in Leeds. They’ve come up with a special three-course menu for £34.95. Start with pan seared scallops and slow braised beef shin, before you choose from sea bass, sirloin steak, lamb rump, belly of pork or a smoky beetroot and goat’s cheese satin for your main. And for pudding? Delve into one of their desserts, like the blueberry and white chocolate mess.

Manahatta Merrion Street
Manahatta on Merrion Street will be taking inspiration from their next door neighbour Leeds Grand Theatre for NYE 2017 by throwing an On Broadway party. Kick things off with their Bottomless Supper Club between 5pm and 7pm, before you dabble in the glitz and glamour of Broadway with big musical numbers, fancy outfits and classic cocktails. It’s free entry, but you can book ahead and get one of their special drinks packages.

If you love Brazilian music, you’ll want to spend New Year’s Eve at The Faversham. After the success of their first NYE event last year, Leeds night Calle Ocho are back with a stunning line-up, and tickets are just £15 each. You’ve got four rooms, each playing a different kind of Brazilian music, from salsa to bachata, kizomba and reggaeton. DJs like DJ Lubi, Fabio Bahia, Jane Salsadi and Sean Wilson will take you all the way through until 5am.

The Decanter is celebrating New Year’s Eve by doing more of what it does best – wine and charcuterie platters. The classy wine bar will be open for bookings only from 6pm until 2am – you can bag yourself your own table and spend the whole evening working your way through their extensive wine list, pairing them as you go with their meat and cheese boards. There’ll be bubbly at midnight and live music throughout the evening. You’ll need to get in touch with them directly about pricing, as it depends on the size of your group.

New Year’s Eve is the last day you can visit Thor’s Tipi Bar in Victoria Gardens before it leaves Leeds for another year – and what better way to bring in 2018? Expect 100% classic vinyl as Wax Format host their huge NYE party at the Warehouse until 6am. It’s a great way to welcome 2018 if you love house, old school, prog and trance. They’re rolling back to the years to 1997 for a party influenced by the best of the late 90s and early 00s, with DJs like Menno de Jong, Rob Tissera, Anne Savage, Si Frater and Jon O’Bir who’s coming out of retirement especially for this year’s event. This is going to be one hell of a party and tickets are just £22.50 each.

Tiger Tiger are classing it up for New Year’s Eve 2017. They’re hosting a Black and White Party for £15 per person, which means they want you to dress to impress in your best gear. This year, the Carriageworks and Paul Holman Associates are presenting a raucous performance of a stone-cold classic – Jack and the Beanstalk. Let It Shine’s Danny Colligan takes on the lead role as the boy with a bag full of magic beans, but how will he use them? Expect loads of audience participation, plenty of laughs and colourful characters.

They’ve lined up a stellar array of stand-ups for the night, including Justin Moorhouse, Allyson June-Smith and Tom Wrigglesworth. Double Denim are once again putting on a massive rock and roll party for New Year’s Eve – and trust us when we say that live music fans will not want to miss it. If you’re looking for an elegant New Year’s Eve, look no further than New Dock Hall. They have two options for you – the Glitter Ball and the Masquerade Ball. The Masquerade Ball is £69.95 and will see you donning masks for a three-course meal with prosecco, a chocolate fountain and live music from The Bogus Brothers.
