Salon Privé is the new home of live music in Leeds – listen to jazz, tuck into refined small plates and try the biggest collection of gin in Leeds.

Tucked away in Dakota, Salon Privé is so much more than just a hotel bar. Not only do they have the biggest collection of gins anywhere in the city, but they’ve also introduced a packed line-up of live music, so you can enjoy your favourite G&T to a soundtrack of jazz, funk and soul. Inside, the bar has had an incredible makeover, and outside, you can relax on the only elevated terrace on Greek Street, so if you haven’t been yet, now’s the time to go.

You can see the latest up-and-coming artists play in an elegant lounge bar, which has a light and airy feel thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. They run along the length of the bar and lead out onto an incredible terrace where you can take a seat at one of their new high-level tables and watch the world go by. They’ve added plants and greenery to give the bar an outside-in feel, as well as a brand new stage with a state-of-the-art sound system that will be in use on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

They’ve teamed up with the promoter behind The Domino Club to bring an eclectic line-up of music at Salon Privé. On Friday nights you can enjoy cool jazz sounds, then on Saturday afternoon, you can settle in for chilled out acoustic music. Once night falls, the party starts in earnest with energetic funk, soul and blues until late.

Behind the bar, they have an extensive selection of craft beer, cocktails and champagne, but really, Salon Privé is all about gin. They’ve sourced the very best gins from around the world to create one of the biggest collections in Leeds. And they know their stuff here – their bartenders can help you find your perfect serve for any and all of their 200 gins.

With so much to choose from, you can embrace your adventurous side. Why not try Audemus Pink Pepper Gin? The fresh, spicy notes of pepper, juniper and cardamom pair perfectly with the zestiness of Fever-Tree Aromatic and grapefruit peel. That little beauty comes from France, but they also have a local favourite – the Greystone Small Batch London Dry Gin comes from our very own Harewood Food and Drink Project. It’s made using hand-picked mulberries from a 100-year-old tree on the shores of Harewood Lake. You’ll get a hint of sweetness on the nose before the juniper, elderberry and pineapple hits you. It goes down a treat with frozen blackberry and star anise.

While you’re working your way through their gins, you can tuck into a refined menu of small plates that change regularly. Designed by Dakota’s Executive Head Chef Craig Rogan, they’re simple, seasonal and big on flavour – more importantly, they’re designed for sharing, so you can try a little bit of this and a little bit of that while you enjoy a few drinks with friends.

Try the Beef Cheek Croquette and Herb Mayonnaise. It’s slow-cooked for 12 hours in a water bath and topped with thyme, rosemary and parsley. The Confit Duck Fritter is a must too. Tender duck legs are paired with homemade hoisin sauce and spring onions to create an Asian twist on a classic. And for your five a day? Get the Cauliflower Pakoras. They coat them in Indian spices and top them with homemade mango chutney.

Salon Privé is one of the only places to hear live music on Greek Street and it’s got the biggest collection of gins in the whole city too, so put a date in the diary and enjoy an evening on their sun-kissed terrace.
