Thick slices of tender fillet, smothered in thyme butter and served just the way you like it – sound good?
Picture this. It’s date night and you’re starving, no ravenous. You haven’t eaten all afternoon because you’re going to Chez Mal. There’s a Chateaubriand with your name on it and it comes with an absolute feast of sides. But that’s not even the best bit, because you got it for just £49, with a glass of bubbly on arrival and a bottle of wine to share. Hungry just thinking about it? Let’s make it a reality…
A delicious feast for two for just £49
Chateaubriand is the crème de la crème of the steak world – and Chez Mal sure know how to do it right. They take a 500-gram Brazilian fillet, aged for 25 days, and pan-fry it with thyme butter to bring out the delicate flavours of the steak. It comes with no less than 4 sides – we’re talking pommes frites, onion rings, sautéed mushrooms and a fresh side salad, so you have a real feast ahead of you. You’ll even get a pot of béarnaise sauce to pour on top.
But it’s not just food. You can sup a glass of prosecco while you choose your bottle of wine. If you want a classic red, go for the Mendoza. It’s an Argentinean Malbec with a velvety smooth texture and aromas of plums, black cherries and violets. Prefer white? Try the Dinastia Vivanco. This white Rioja is fresh but intense, with flavours of green apple, citrus and pineapple, brought to life with floral notes.
All this is served up amidst the glitz and glamour of Chez Mal. Expect statement chandeliers, exposed brickwork, neon lights and glossy tables in a restaurant that’s become one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
