The Leeds Gin Festival returns to Leeds Town Hall at the start of July with more gin than ever before.
Now in its fifth year, the Leeds Gin Festival is returning to its spiritual home from Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July 2017. This year, they’ll welcome up to 1,500 revellers per session for their gin-packed shindig, with more than 100 different types of gin to try, making this their biggest and best festival to date.
It was back in 2013 when Leeds Gin Festival was founded by husband and wife team, Jym and Marie Harris. Since then, they’ve travelled all over the UK, spreading their love of gin and introducing folk to tipples they’ve probably never tried before.
It will be the same this year, as they make Leeds Town Hall the place to be. They’ve tapped into their gin-expertise to gather together some of the finest craft brands from around the world, which you’ll be able to try with a range of premium mixers and Fever Tree tonics. They’ve secured the likes of Masons and Slingsby, and more will be joining the list in the run up to the event.
It’s not just about getting boozy, though. Leeds Gin Festival aims to give gin aficionados an experience they won’t forget and new fans a reason to love it, so expect talks from industry experts, gin tastings and a chance to step away from what you’re used to. There will be plenty of infused gins on offer, with intriguing flavours that will make you rethink your favourite combos, as well as live entertainment and street food to soak up all that gin.
Leeds Gin Festival’s Laura Walsh told us about a few new surprises they have lined up for us this year, “It’s an opportunity to try new, unique and exciting gins in a fun and friendly environment surrounded by other gin-enthusiasts. This year we’ve been granted the use of the outdoor space allowing us to play around and include some exciting, fun additions including a few surprises, but we can’t give away too much at this stage. It will also be the first year that Tinker Gin, born and bred in Yorkshire, will exhibit in its own hometown.”
That’s another reason why Leeds Gin Festival is so well loved, as it acts as a platform for local gin distilleries with the likes of Leeds Gin and Addingham sitting alongside debutants Tinker Gin. There’ll also be a number of of Gin Festival exclusives to make the most of, to be revealed closer to the time.
So how can you make the most of all of this? There are four different, separately ticketed sessions to choose from and you’ll get a free Gin Festival Copa Balloon Glass and a gin brochure on arrival. The festival runs a token system and each token costs £5 which will get you a single measure of gin, garnish and Fever Tree Mixer.
The fun kicks off at 6.30pm on Friday evening, followed by an afternoon session from 12.30pm on Saturday and an evening session at 6.30pm. It finishes up on the Sunday with the afternoon session at 12pm. It looks like it’s sold out right now, but fear not – they’re releasing another batch of tickets very soon.
Leeds Gin Festival is at Leeds Town Hall from Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July 2017.
