Here’s your chance to win an incredible night out, complete with all-you-can-eat sushi and two tickets to Opera North’s The Greek Passion.
This autumn, Opera North will bring one of Bohuslav Martinů’s most rarely performed operas to the stage. The Greek Passion was so radical for its time that it was rejected by Covent Garden in 1957 and completely rewritten, but after a complex reconstruction of scattered manuscripts, it was performed for the first time in 1999. 20 years later, you can see the sheer brilliance of his original work for yourself because we’re giving away tickets to Opera North’s new production with all-you-can-eat sushi before the show.
Watch the action unfold from some of the best seats in the house
It may have been written over 60 years ago, but The Greek Passion has never been more relevant. In this powerful, modern opera, a group of desperate refugees arrive at a distant village seeking help and shelter, but instead, they’re met with distrust – can Manolios convince his fellow villagers to embrace the new arrivals or will it all end in tragedy? With a spectacular soundscape and a dramatic twist at the end, you’ll have a great time finding out, especially if you’re our lucky winner because we’re giving away two tickets to the opening night on Saturday 14th September 2019.
Feast on unlimited sushi and Japanese food
Blue Sakura won our hearts with its all-you-can-eat take on sushi and now you can try it for yourself because we’re throwing in dinner before the show. Their menu is vast and it has all your favourite Japanese dishes. Salmon sashimi? Check. Katsu curry? Check. King prawn tempura? Check and double-check. You can eat as much as your appetite allows, so come hungry, and wash all that yumminess down with a complimentary bottle of prosecco.
