The Wuthering Heights Inn campsite combines the wild feel of camping with the accessibility of having a pub on your doorstep. You could go for a hike across the windy moors and get all Brontë-esque or head to the nearby towns of Haworth, Saltaire or Hebden Bridge. It’s a small, quiet campsite, for adults only, nestled in behind the pub itself. If it’s glamping you’re after, they have two cosy shepherd’s huts to stay in. Jerusalem Farm Campsite
The campsite at Jerusalem Farm in Halifax is set in a beautiful rural location. It adjoins a local nature reserve, so you might be lucky enough to spot the likes of woodland birds like woodpeckers, tree creepers and goldfinches. You might even see deer! The campsite itself is simple and tranquil – it’s tents only, with cars parked at reception. There’s a playground for little ones, picnic tables and a shower block. Cat I’ th’ Well is a great country pub with stunning views, just a short walk away.

Wighill Park Glamping
If even glamping is a little too survivalist for you, then Wighill Manor Lodges might be just the thing. Their four-star Nordic-style lodges are simple in design, but offer all the little luxuries you need – we’re talking central heating, a kitchen and fresh bedding. You’ll still get the feeling of waking up in nature though, as each lodge is set against ancient woodland with views of the working farm and rolling countryside. They’ve got two locations in Yorkshire, Eavestone Lake (the yurts are amongst the trees) and Fountains (where the yurts are set in a pretty meadow and are off-grid). Each yurt comes with a real bed, futons, a private toilet and hot shower. Some of the yurts are even dog-friendly! Nearby, you can paddle board or canoe on the lake, rock climb and go gorge-walking in the Yorkshire countryside.

Catgill Farm is a modern camping and glamping site near Leeds. It’s actually within a mile of Bolton Abbey, an incredible location for walkers, cyclists and families alike. There’s a campsite with five-star shower facilities, 10 timber pods and two bell tents, so you can choose the level that suits you. You can stay in luxury with the heated timber pods – real beds, bathroom and kitchen, a TV and a patio with a hot tub. In the morning, emerge from your tent or pod and grab a coffee and a croissant from the on-site coffee shop. Heaven!

Stonebridge is one of the only caravan sites near Leeds with its own coarse fishing lake. Tourers and motorhomes are welcome, with each pitch coming with electrical hook up – you can take awnings and up to two of your furry four-legged friends too. There are two lakes, one for fishing and one where you can stay in a beautiful bell tent with a deck looking out on to the lake. It’s set in Little Fencote, perfect for exploring the moors. The Little Hide is a grown-up glamping site near York. There are a number of wooden camping pods, a cute cabin and a nomadic yurt, each offering a slightly different experience. Whichever you choose, you can wake up in your real bed, well-rested and ready to take on the day. There’s a fridge shack, a shower block and the den, a covered area for groups to socialise in. Nearby, there are village pubs within walking distance, and there’s a bus to take you into York just at the end of the lane.

Want a truly off-grid glamping site near Leeds? Little Seed Field is just over an hour away from the city, but it’s a wild, secluded site, surrounded by nature. There are well-laid-out grass pitches and a couple of ready-made tents, an amenity building and a small shop. You can wake up in your tent in the morning, perhaps grab a couple of eggs for breakfast and walk out on foot from the campsite. There are gentle footpaths as well as the long-distance trek of the Pennine Way. Chatsworth House is nearby too.
