All the world’s a stage, so it’s time to sing like a star…

Loop

Whether you can hold a tune or just hold a mic, here are the best places in Leeds to kick it at the karaoke.

One of the best things you can do on a night out with your mates, karaoke is where you can live out your dreams of being a pop star. Or, let’s be honest, just belt out your favourite song and hope you don’t get it too badly wrong. There’s nothing else for it! Head out to one of the best karaoke bars in Leeds and see if you can mix it with Adele, Dua Lipa and Frank Sinatra.

Mix Karaoke

One of just two dedicated karaoke clubs in Leeds, Mix Karaoke has a real buzz about it. If you don’t mind belting out ‘Gin & Juice’ or ‘Buffalo Stance’ in front of a bunch of strangers, put your name down and and you can get on stage in the main karaoke lounge. Alternatively, you and your pals can hire one of seven differently themed party rooms and have a private do. It’s open until late from Thursday to Saturday, giving you plenty of time for Dutch courage if you’re nervous about performing. Cocktails and karaoke – what’s not to like?

The Skyrack

Headingley favourite The Skyrack has been packing them in for karaoke on a Sunday night for years. Even when students aren’t in town, it’s rammed with locals who sink a few cask ales before doing their best Neil Diamond or Whitney Houston. And when students are around? It’s even livelier. Free to enter, it’s the perfect place to end the weekend in fine style, while the more shy can just prop up the bar, order up some decent pub food and watch as someone tries to do the tricky bits from Eminem’s ‘Without Me’.

Roxy Ball Room

You might know Roxy Ball Room best for its beer pong, shuffleboard and pool tables, but it also has private karaoke booths that you can hire by the hour. While some places charge per person, there’s a flat rate at Roxy, £24 per hour off-peak, £30 per hour at peak times. Get the drinks in, pile in to your room and you and your buddies can sing up a storm in complete privacy. The trio of booths are down in the basement and you won’t be short of bangers to sing – they’ve got over 100,000 songs to choose from.

Hello Karaoke

The newest karaoke club in Leeds is from the folks behind Belgrave and Headrow House, so you know it’s going to be a good one. It sits above their ramen restaurant House of Fu, so you can slurp your way through some noodles in preparation for puttin’ on the hits. You’ll want to download the Singa app before you go – it has all the songs in their catalogue and you can use it to queue tracks up while you’re there. There are five booths in total, kitted out with state-of-the-art sound systems – prices start at £40 per hour, and there are drinks packages available.

A stalwart of the Leeds pub scene, with a charming old-fashioned exterior, The Three Legs seemingly eats, breathes and sleeps karaoke. Walk past it at any time after 4pm and you’ll hear some brave soul crooning out a classic, and the pop party doesn’t stop until closing time. Don’t expect fireworks and stage lights, this is a classic, no-nonsense pub with relatively cheap beer and a loyal clientele of regulars. There’s a big list of songs, however, so put your name down wait your turn and then seize your time to shine!
