Tonight, Matthew, you’re going to be whoever you want to be because we’ve rounded up the best places in Leeds to show off your karaoke skills.
My Way or Wonderwall, Summer Nights or Uptown Funk? All you wannabe pop divas and rock’n’roll stars can make your dreams finally come true at Leeds’ karaoke bars. Whether you’re celebrating a big occasion or just fancy a good ol’ sing-song, round up your mates and get ready for an incredible night out.
Loop has 8 private booths kitted out with state-of-the-art-technology. Inside, it has a cool setup that combines graffiti murals with old-school tunes. Downstairs in the karaoke booths, you can choose from over 100,000 songs on your tablet and line them up ready to sing. You won’t even have to go to the bar because you can order drinks straight to your booth. Choose from a wide selection of creative cocktails and craft beer – then finish the night with a round of prosecco pong in the upstairs bar.
Loop, 9 Merrion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6PQ
Mix Karaoke is the only place in Leeds that’s completely dedicated to karaoke. You’ve got two options here. You can head to their main karaoke lounge which is open to everyone – jump on stage to sing your favourite song for absolutely free with a huge catalogue of hits to choose from. Want something a little more private? Book one of their 7 party themed rooms, like the glitzy Hong Kong Hotspot or the dance-friendly Mirror Mirror room. They’re perfect for special occasions, with a range of offers and packages tailored to suit you.
Mix Karaoke, 28 New Briggate, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6NU.
Want to glam up your Tuesday night? Get down to Viaduct Showbar, the city’s number one drag bar, for Cash Karaoke with Connie Mae. She’s their no-nonsense karaoke leader and she’ll give you the chance to win £30 if you have the cojones to get up on stage and sing a song or two. You’ll get a free shot every time you sing, which will certainly help with the stage fright, and they have an eclectic list of pop anthems for you to choose from.
Viaduct Showbar, 11 Lower Briggate, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6ER.
The Bridge Inn
The Bridge Inn is one of the longest running LGBT bars in Leeds and by gosh, they absolutely love a karaoke night – in fact, they have three. Judy & Leroy present Karaoke Jokey on Thursday nights where the songs are light-hearted, talent is unnecessary and shots just keep coming. Or you can pop along on Saturday and Sunday evenings for Early Doors Karaoke with Marky Mark Scott – any song goes as long as they’ve got it, and it helps raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice to boot.
The Bridge Inn, 1-5 Bridge End, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 7HG.
You’ll have to leave the city centre and go to Headingley for The Skyrack’s karaoke evening, but trust us when we say it’s worth it. It’s a popular pub with the student masses – expect cask ales, spirits and pub grub. But it comes alive on a Sunday night with their immensely popular karaoke night. It’s free and kicks off from 8pm with a mix of classic tunes everyone knows, from Dexy’s ‘Come On Eileen’ to modern numbers like Taylor Swift’s ’22’.
The Skyrack, 2 St Michael’s Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 3AW.
The Three Legs
If you walk past The Three Legs from 4pm every day, you can usually hear one of their regulars belting out a classic tune or two, so if you can’t get enough karaoke, this is the place to go. Don’t expect a modern, hipster joint, this is a down-to-earth pub, but if you want a few cheap ales and a good ol’ fashioned sing-song to a classic tune for free, you won’t be disappointed.
