Mono Cult, one of Leeds’ most famous club nights, is going out with a bang on New Year’s Day with a huge line up at Canal Mills.
Since 2007, Mono Cult has become one of the first words in the Leeds clubbing scene, but after eight years and endless parties, it’s all set to come to an end, as all good things must, at Canal Mills. They’ve chosen New Year’s Day, the date of some of their most famous shindigs, as the day to say goodbye and have roped in some of their most famous buddies to play the last dance.
Headlining will be Russian superstar DJ, Nina Kraviz, whose famous sets of some of the best techno around has seen her become one of the hottest properties in the dance music world over the past decade.
Joining her will be Spanish supremo John Talabot. He’s transcended the clubs in recent years, with his debut long player ‘Fin’ smacking critics and fans alike around the chops with its irresistible house anthems showing just how much of a talent this guy his – and his set at the final Mono Cult New Year’s Day party will be something special.
Also on the bill in Room One will be Bicep and People Get Real, while over in Room Two, Midland, Matt Long, Brad Mercer and Paul Kaminski will man the decks until the early hours as revellers say goodbye in fine style, with Canal Mills open until 5am.
As ever with Mono Cult’s New Year’s Day shindig, they’ll be hosting an afterparty that will keep your evening going on well into the morning, and they’re promising some very special guests at a venue that will be confirmed closer to the time.
There’s a real celebration feel to the final Mono Cult, but it should be said that saying goodbye to an integral part of Leeds’ thriving dance music scene over the past decade won’t be an easy one. We just hope there’ll be something new to fill the large hole that will be left once it’s over – but for now, it’s all about making New Year’s Day go off with a bang.
Mono Cult’s New Year’s Day 2016 is at Canal Mills from 9pm on Friday 1st January 2016.
