The Killers

Las Vegas indie heroes The Killers are bringing their new album ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ to First Direct Arena this November.

It’s been five long years since The Killers last played in Leeds. Back then, they had just unleashed their fourth album ‘Battle Born’ and headlined an intimate show at O2 Academy Leeds. But now, they’re back with a new single, a new album and new Leeds date – they’re playing First Direct Arena for the very first time on Sunday 19th November 2017 as part of a huge UK tour.

The Killers will show off their fifth effort, which has just been announced as ‘Wonderful Wonderful’, having spent time working with renowned producer Jacknife Lee in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The first cut from the LP is ‘The Man’, a typically contagious effort with a blazing chorus that will fit in rather nicely with the band’s heaving back catalogue of hits.

They announced their return on the back of ‘The Man’, with a surprise mid-afternoon set at Glastonbury Festival which served as a reminder of the band’s enduring quality. That will also be on show at First Direct Arena come November as they show off 15 years of anthems.

It all started in 2003 with the breakout success of ‘Mr Brightside’ and debut effort ‘Hot Fuss’, which followed a year later. With it, they became arguably the biggest band in the world, thanks to songs like ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ and ‘Smile Like You Mean It’ and it’s gone on to shift more than seven million copies worldwide.

They followed it up in 2006 with the equally successful ‘Sam’s Town’, an album which added a heartland rock feel to their sound through singles like ‘When You Were Young’, ‘Bones’ and ‘Read My Mind’, all of which are live staples to this day. Following that with ‘Day & Age’ in 2008 and ‘Battle Born’ in 2012, featuring favourites like ‘Human’, ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Runaways’, The Killers have cemented themselves as one of the most consistent and popular bands around today.

Their First Direct Arena show is a rare chance to see the band in Leeds, and with a banging new album in tow, as well as their fair share of classics, it’ll be one to remember.

The Killers will play First Direct Arena on Sunday 19th November 2017. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 14th July 2017.
