If you’re our lucky winner, you can bag two tickets to one of eight unmissable shows – but which one will you choose? Gold.Berg.Werk sees Xenia Pestova Bennett and Karlheinz Essl present a radical reinterpretation of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Or you can celebrate The Art of Song, which features pieces by some of the best new female composers in the world, performed by Amy Van Walsum and Helene Mathiesen.
Elsewhere, Ligeti Quartet will celebrate their 10th anniversary by playing through the work of the most exciting new composers in the UK. Electronica pioneers Plaid will also be coming to Sounds Like THIS to play a career-spanning audio-visual set which will be one of the festival’s highlights. Or you can head to Unusual Ingredients, an event which explores the incredible relationships between sound and flavour. A delicious menu featuring popping candy, honey and seaweed will be prepared by food artist Catherine Hopkinson. Each dish will then be paired with a piece of music which will amplify its flavours and textures created by sound artists Jacob Thompson-Bell and Adam Martin.
How about a night at the opera? Leeds College of Music’s unique interpretation of Romeo and Her Juliet tells the story of two star-crossed lovers through eight of Handel’s best pieces. Alternatively, catch hip-hop star AWATE as he shows off new tracks from his stint as artist-in-residence at the British Library. Or you can enjoy a night of theatrical performances that shine a light on the modern world in Leo&Hyde’s The Marriage of Kim K, a crazy culture-clash between Kim Kardashian and Mozart.
