Are you ready for more new openings?

Rudy's Pizza

Four new restaurants, a huge new events space, a farm shop and a legendary pub reinvented – they’re all on their way to Leeds in the coming months.

Ready for a fresh batch of new openings, our first of 2023? Well, you’re in for a treat. We’ve got everything you need to know about seven impending arrivals that will cause great excitement in Leeds. Among four new restaurants, there’s a celebrity chef, a Leeds favourite and an acclaimed fine dining spot, but that just scratches the surface of what’s on the way very soon, including the city’s newest events space. Take a look!

Canvas Yard

Canvas Yard

This is a big one. Developers Moda Living and New Citizens, the folk behind Chow Down, have teamed up to launch the biggest open-air events space in Leeds city centre. Canvas Yard is a 103,000-square-foot venue that will host an eclectic programme of music, sports, cultural and arts events, within a soon-to-be-built South Bank neighbourhood. It launches in April with FAC1 Hacienda Open Air, headlined by Roger Sanchez, followed by the iconic Garden Party in May.

Canvas Yard opens in Holbeck in April 2023.

Gino D’Acampo

Gino D'Acampo, Marriott Leeds

After a brief break from Leeds after his Park Row restaurant closed, Gino D’Acampo returns with a new partnership with The Marriott Hotel. The Trevelyan Square dining room has been designed by Bernard Carroll and features a marble bar, lounge area, cicchetti bar, deli, outdoor terrace and seats for 160 people. It promises to be an all-day affair, taking you from pancakes for breakfast through to risotto, pizza, pasta and classic Italian mains for dinner.

Gino D’Acampo opens at The Marriott in spring 2023.

Caballero Lounge

Caballero Lounge, Thorpe Park

There’s a new opening in Leeds from the team behind Cosy Club. This time, they’re heading to The Springs with their Lounges concept – it brings together elements of British pubs, restaurants and coffee shop culture to create an all-day offering with something for everyone. The family and dog-friendly venue will be known as Caballero Lounge – expect mis-matched furniture and a home-away-from-home vibe as you enjoy brunch, lunch and dinner.

Caballero Lounge opens at The Springs on 22nd February 2023.

The Hideout at Harper Farm

Latte, coffee, cafe

Harper Farm Cottages in New Farnley is set to welcome a brand-new coffee shop. The Hideout will bring you specialty coffee from the roasters at Dark Woods in Huddersfield, so you can pop by for a proper brew, which will pair perfectly with homemade sweet treats. But that’s not all – The Hideout will give you the chance to purchase their award-winning, fresh free-range eggs from right there on the farm. Keep an eye out for their farm shop expansion later in the year.

The Hideout at Harper Farm opens at Harper Farm Cottages, New Farnley at the end of January 2023.

Residence 74 is a Lawnswood favourite, so much so, they’re expanding in 2023. They’re prepping Residence, a new cafe and restaurant, to open on North Lane in Headingley later this year. You can expect an all-day affair, much like their first venture. Breakfast promises local coffee and brunch classics, from eggs Florentine to fluffy American pancakes, while later in the day, you can enjoy burgers, gyros and steaks, washed down with craft beer and cocktails.

Residence Bar & Kitchen opens on North Lane in 2023.

The Pack Horse

The Pack Horse, nestled on the periphery of Hyde Park and Woodhouse, is a Leeds legend that had grown tired in recent years. But no longer, Star Pubs & Bars have taken it over and are giving it a much-needed £300,000 refurb. This is an old-school pub, so original features are being restored, while new features include a timber clad wall and modern decorations. The beer garden will also get a makeover, with space for an outdoor bar and street food vendors.

The Pack Horse reopens on Woodhouse Lane in early 2023.

Rudy’s Pizza

Rudy's Pizza

Hot on the heels of their Leeds city centre and Chapel Allerton branches, Rudy’s are bringing their epic pizzas to Headingley this spring. They’re taking over a spot on Otley Road where you’ll soon be able to chow down on delicious Neapolitan pies. They come with a joyously thin crust and bubbled edges, made using 24-hour fermented dough that they make fresh on site every day – just take your pick from classic topping combinations or adventurous pairings.

Rudy’s Pizza opens at 6-8 Otley Road, Headingley in spring 2023.
