A burger joint, a milkshake cafe and an independent bookshop – that’s just a taste of what’s coming soon to Leeds!
Ready for another batch of new openings? We’ve got five new additions to tell you about! There’s an indie bookshop in Farsley, a milkshake cafe in Headingley and a burger joint in a city centre bar. Not to mention an Ethiopian coffee shop. So even though we’re in lockdown and even though we can’t go out, at least we still have something to look forward to.
Masato Jones Fashion
London-based Japanese fashion designer Masato Jones is opening his first permanent boutique in Leeds city centre this year. Having previously shown off his creations at Leeds Fashion Week, he’s returning to the city with a host of incredible garments for both men and women. Think modern kimonos, stylish suit jackets and vibrant shirts that take inspiration from both Japan and Masato’s European travels.
Masato Jones Fashion opens in Leeds in Summer 2021.
Ethiopian Organic Coffee
Ethiopian Organic Coffee is a family-run business, owned by Terefe Tadesse Teklemariam and Denenesh Gossaye Rufa. They wanted to bring organic coffee from their home country to Leeds – and that’s exactly what they’ve done. You can try their speciality blend, Ethiopian Limu, a medium roasted coffee with a fine acidity and delicate floral characteristics, alongside a host of one-off coffee roasts, homemade cakes and sandwiches.
Ethiopian Organic Coffee opens at Cypress Point in Spring 2021.
Big Buns Burger
The brothers behind The Falafel Guys are taking up a residency at Distrikt Bar with a brand new smash burger and loaded fries concept, Big Buns. Expect wild combinations, like Take The Volcano, a piled-high burger with two 28-day aged beef patties, BB’s special sauce, onion rings, Frank’s Red Hot sauce, cayenne pepper and American cheese. They’re also bringing a taste of their original brand to Big Buns, with an epic falafel burger!
Big Buns Burger opens in Distrikt in 2021 and is on Uber Eats now.
Milkshakes galore! Thick and gooey, filled with your favourite chocolate bars and blended to perfection. That’s what awaits at Headingley Shakes when they open in the summer. From banoffee pie to Oreo cookie, Kinder Bueno to chocolate fudge, they get creative with big flavours and you can top ‘em with cream, flakes and marshmallows. As well as shakes, they’ll be serving sweet treats like waffles, cookie dough and ice cream.
Headingley Shake opens in Headingley in Summer 2021.
There’s a new independent bookshop coming to Farsley in 2021. Truman Books has been in the works for over a year, in fact, if it wasn’t for lockdown, it’d likely be open already. But the wait is almost over, so you’ll soon be able to pick up all the big fiction and non-fiction titles, while they also champion the best reads from lesser-known authors and publishers. Look out for their coffee and cake too, the perfect reading accompaniment.
