A zero-waste shop, a plant-based restaurant and three new coffee shops – they’ just a few of the new openings coming to Leeds in 2021.
Ready for another set of new openings? We’ve got everything you need to know on seven new additions that are set to take Leeds by storm over the next few months. There’s a couple of new bars from local favourites, a plant-based restaurant and a zero-waste store, not to mention three new speciality coffee shops. Take a look at the openings that are getting prepared to bring a little joy to post-lockdown life.
The Green Room
A plant-based restaurant and rooftop bar is coming to Wellington Street. The Green Room is the work of Will Habergham and PJ Gardner, two friends who’ve taken over a long-empty venue next to The Majestic. Downstairs, the restaurant will serve an all-day menu of vegetarian food, made using locally and ethically sourced ingredients, while upstairs, the 1,500 square foot roof terrace is perfect for alfresco dining, pop-up parties and summer BBQs.
The Green Room is opening on Wellington Street in late Spring 2021.
The Crown Hotel
The folks behind The Beck & Call are launching a new pub, this time in the charming village of Boston Spa. They’ve taken over The Crown Hotel, a traditional watering hole that’s been closed since 2012, and they’re transforming it into one of their famous family-friendly venues. The team is already hard at work, refurbishing it for the grand reopening, so prepare for a new favourite packed with craft beer and pub grub.

Grumpy’s is opening a new sister bar next to Sunny Bank Mills. Saint Jude is named after the owners’ mum and has been in the works for over a year. The pandemic put their opening on hold, but they’ve spend the last 12 months, transforming the former Farsley Physiotherapy into a cool-as-heck watering hole. You can look forward to a menu of burgers, bagels and doughnuts, paired with craft beer and cocktails.

They’re one of the most popular indie coffee shops in Liverpool and now 92 Degrees is heading across the Pennines to open their first store in Leeds. They’ve taken over part of the old Cobourg pub next to Queen Square, where you can soon enjoy their incredible coffee. It’s all made by small-batch, hand production methods, using ethically sourced coffee beans. Pair your brews of choice with hand-made sandwiches and cakes.

There’s a brand new zero waste shop opening on Hyde Park Corner. Leeds Refills is eco-friendly to its very core – they’ve been doing bicycle deliveries through lockdown, but now the store is ready to open. You can fill your reusable containers with all kinds of weigh-and-pay delights. From rice and pasta to household cleaners, toiletries and homewares, it’s the perfect way to stock up your pantry and do your bit for the environment.

Better Days Wellbeing Coffee House & Bar
Created by mental health coach Vicky Fytche, Better Days is the city’s first wellbeing coffee shop and bar. She wants to create a safe, positive environment where you can focus on your physical and mental health, so she’s taken over a unit in Grand Arcade and transformed it into a cosy coffee shop.
