Poco is opening its second eatery in Leeds later this year. Get ready to sample the joys of Sicilian street food, made using ingredients sourced all the way from Italy. From giant rectangular pizza slices to crisp rotisserie chickens and huge arancini balls, you can mix and match to create your dream Italian meal. Don’t forget dessert! The cannoli and sweet arancini are worth the wait.

Luxury British jeweller Boodles has taken over a 4,500-square-foot unit in Victoria Leeds. They’re one of the country’s leading retailers of fine diamond jewellery and you’ll be able to browse their breathtaking collection of rings, earrings and necklaces in their townhouse-style shop. It will also have a dedicated lounge on the second floor for private dinners and special events.

If you’ve never felt the joy of hurling an axe at a target before, you’re going to love this because Whistle Punks is opening in Leeds this autumn. It’s one of the leading urban axe-throwing centres in the UK. The premise is simple – you’ll be given a set of axes to chuck at a wooden target in your designated lane. Take it in turns to throw – the competitor who hits closest to the middle, wins.

After their success in Manchester and London, Morrisons is bringing its Market Kitchen to Leeds later this year. This new street food hall is guaranteed to liven up your lunchtime. From paella and risotto to curry, burgers and rice bowls, their 50-strong team of chefs will create an ever-changing seasonal menu influenced by global cuisines, all made fresh to order. Market Street Kitchen is opening in Leeds city centre in late 2021.
Dale Wynter, the man behind The Beehive and Chophaus, has teamed up with interior designer Ellen Price to take over the ground floor of 34 Boar Lane. The Collective will be a laid-back cafe-bar that doubles as a shop. All the fixtures, fittings and furniture will be sourced from British designers and available to buy for your own home. Get ready to shop over lunch, brunch and cocktails.

Kuala Lumpur Cafe
Kuala Lumpur Cafe is opening its second restaurant in Horsforth later this year. They’ll take you on a culinary adventure around Malaysia with their menu of authentic dishes. You can’t go wrong with classics like nasi lemak or the rendang curry, but you can also enjoy rarely seen dishes like the masak kicap – slow-simmered, soy-marinated chicken – in their cafe-style eatery.
Kuala Lumpur Cafe is opening on 8-10 Town Street, Horsforth in late 2021.
The Plant Collection
A new cafe and plant shop is coming to Crossgates at the end of the month. Nip into The Plant Collection for a cup of locally-sourced coffee (and maybe one of their homemade sweet treats) surrounded by an impressive indoor jungle. All the plants on display will be available to buy, from the Alocasia Amazonica to the Monstera Deliciosa. Your home is about to get a green makeover.

Founded in Bradford in 1977, Shimlas is one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Yorkshire. After opening successful eateries in Keighley, Dewsbury and Sheffield, it’s now coming to Harehills. They’re famed for their Indian twists on doner kebabs – think marinated chicken, fish or lamb stuffed into a naan wrap with loads of veggies. Want to keep it simple? They do classic curries, biryanis and baltis.
