How many of these new additions have you tried? Time to start ticking off the list!
Over the last few months, there have been so many openings that it’s almost impossible to keep up. Luckily, we’re here to remind you what’s opened and why you need to check them out. From the new ramen spot in the city centre to the suburban sandwich bar that’s now in the running for the title of best sarnie in Leeds, here are five new openings in Leeds that you might have missed.
Maki & Ramen

Maki & Ramen got their new restaurant just across the line just in time to be a 2023 opening. The name gives the game away here – it’s Japanese fare with a focus on sushi and ramen. Broth simmered for eight hours and noodles made fresh daily form the base of their ramen bowls, which range from miso to tonkotsu. And if it’s sushi you’re after, you’re in for a treat, with everything from soft shell crab rolls, perfect for sharing, to sashimi platters you’ll want all to yourself.
Maki & Ramen, 32 Bond Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 5BQ.
Galleria

You’ve no doubt heard of Project House, the new venue from the folk behind Brudenell Social Club, Belgrave Music Hall and Welcome Skate Store, but have you clocked their new restaurant? Galleria serves up a menu of wood-fired goodies that’ll take you from the heady heights of whole roasted chicken with a wonderfully smoke twang to the carb-a-licious treat that is their wood-fired pizzas. Couple with local beers or handpicked vino from Wayward Wines.
Galleria, Armley Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS12 2DR.
Melodie 71

Part bar, part vinyl shop, Melodie 71 is the latest addition to Kirkstall. You can’t miss it, the facade is bright orange and it’s just as colourful inside. In fact, we’d go as far as saying that this is just the pick-me-up you need on a gloomy winter’s day. Pops of blue, yellow, orange and red are paired with earthy leather benches and wooden booths to create instant atmosphere that’s taken up a notch by racks of vinyls, live DJs and a cracking menu of cocktails.
Melodie 71, 71 Commercial Road, Kirkstall, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS5 3AT.
Chance & Counters

One of our favourite new openings of 2023, Chance & Counters is a must-visit board game cafe. Step inside and you’ll find yourself surrounded by a startling array of games. They’ve got all the usual suspects, from Scrabble to Monopoly, plus loads of games you’ve probably never played before. Incoherent? Pictomania? War of Whispers? You name it, they’ve got it, so whether you’re looking for a lighthearted game of Jenga or a serious strategy all-dayer, get down there.
Chance & Counters, 6-8 Merrion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6PQ.
Silver’s Deli

Bramley has definitely upped its sandwich game with the arrival of Silver’s Deli. Perfectly placed, just around the corner from the train station, they’ve got breakfasts, lunches and coffees on-the-go, all sorted. Mornings start with a toasted brioche – get it stuffed full of sausage, streaky bacon, scrambled egg, cheese, caramelised onion and ketchup – or nip in at lunch for a freshly baked sub. They do everything from salt beef to vegan chick’n, but we’re all about the meatballs!
Silver’s Deli, 268 Stanningley Road, Bramley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS13 3BS.
