Want an early look at the Bishop’s Quarter development in gorgeous Sherburn in Elmet? Look no further…
There’s something oh-so-nice about a new build house. Forget commissioning expensive surveys to find out about historic problems from years ago – you’re getting a purpose-built home that’s brand spanking new.
We’ve just had a sneak peek inside Bishop’s Quarter, Avant Homes’ new development in Sherburn in Elmet, so if you’re in the market for a new home in a lovely part of the world, get yourself down to the show home.
One size doesn’t fit all
Got a big family? There are 4 and 5-bedroom spots available here with plenty of room for everyone. About to start one or looking for your first home? Take your pick of 2 or 3-beds you can put down roots in.
The Ripley is the most affordable of the plots, but packs a lot in for £270,000. As well as a lounge and kitchen dining space on the ground floor, the upstairs has two bedrooms, one with an en-suite, a family bathroom and a living/work space that’s ideal for a study or work-from-home spot.
At the top end, The Appleton and Coverham houses boast 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms – ideal for those mornings where you’re all up and getting ready for school and work at the same time. All that for £549,995? You’d barely get a broom cupboard in London.
There’s plenty to help you move

There are incentives galore included at the different price points. Some places come with triple glazing, solar panels and EV charging for a sustainable hat trick. Others might include a flooring package or the deposit paid for you.
Avant also have a package aimed at first-time buyers that can involve money towards the deposit, legal fees paid, fitted wardrobes, retailer vouchers and more – all helpful if you’re struggling to get on the housing ladder.
That’s not all – there’s also part-exchange available for some plots, and they even have a scheme called My Move Made Easy where Avant will help you sell your existing home. That includes independent valuations, photos, listings and even your selling fees.

The houses look lovely, there’s lots of help to get you moving, but what’s it like living in Sherburn in Elmet? It’s a pretty sweet village that, although dating back to Roman times, has never sprawled or lost its character.
Vitally, it has good transport links too. The main railway station will whisk you to Hull, Sheffield and York, while the nearby South Milford station takes you to Leeds. Want to commute by car? The A63 runs from just west of Sherburn in Elmet right into Leeds city centre.
It’s the perfect place to raise a family, to dip into the local crafting scene or explore the local history. There’s an atmospheric old parish church, a village hall and a quaint tearoom set in a 19th-century girls school. Best of all? You get the peace of life in a village with the big city only a short drive away.
